Question about Magic Chef MCWC44DZ Wine Cooler

My subzero 424 doesn't seem to shut off. constantly running. temp remains constant.

Temp set to 50 on top and 55 on the bottom. does not change, not even by one degree. when I raise the temp it stops running until it reaches the new setting and then keeps on going. it doesn't rest

while the top part of the 424 is working fine @50 degrees the bottom part @ 55 or 60 degrees does not cool down

Add a Comment so it is constantly running trying to cool from the ste temp but does not cool down

OK as long as you used a hair drier, and not a screw driver to defrost this machine, you should be fine, it shoudl take no more then 24-36 hours to regain the correct temp, this being said, not real comfortable with the over the internet diag of a unit that potentially "keeps people alive"

You most likely have either a faulty thermistor or heating element that will need to be replaced.

It should shut off when it reaches the correct temperature. If you have the temp set to low it could cause it to continue to run or if there is an issue with the fridge that could also cause this issue. Keep in mind after a defrost it will take some time for everything to get back to the correct temp so it may run constant for a long time.

Subzero Model 424 Service Light ON - Codes: 10EC, 15EC, 73UE, 73LE, 73UP, 73LO. No codes are EE.

an "EE" code means you have an open thermistor. "EC" is a extended compressor run code. typically with the 424 if the thermistors are good, as in no "EE" codes you probably have a refrigerant leak. 73UE is the temperature at the upper evaporator thermistor. 73LE is the temp at the lower evaporator thermistor, 73up is the upper compartment temp and 73lo is the lower compartment temp. the unit probably has a leak in the evaporator/heat exchanger assemblies and needs a refrigeraton system rebuild

Sounds like the thermostat is not working that is what tells the compressor it is cold enough shut off.

You can but the unit will have not control over temperature, and you can cause the unit to freeze up or slug the compressor w/ liquid refrigerant causing premature compressor failure. I would recommend replacing the thermostat if it is not holding proper temperature, but if dead set on bypassing it use a volt/ohm meter after unplugging it to find the normally open contacts and wire those wires together taking into consideration that the fan must run constantly with the compressor.

Refrigerators shut off and on time depends on the outside temperature, and how often you open it according the temperature setting. Lower temperature setting would yield less turn off time and higher temp seting would yiel less running time and vise versa.

Grundfos JPF4A pump. takes a long time to get up to prime then once it kicks in after running water it gets to 50 shuts of but drop pressure instantaneously and kicks back in again. The constant on off...

The check valve is bad. When the system builds up pressure and shuts off the check valve prevents water from dropping back down the well line. When the check valve goes bad water drops back down the well line and siphons water back out of the well tank causing the switch to kick on and off constantly. The check valve will between on the well line coming from the drop pipe. It may be making a constant rattling noise as pump is running. Replace the check valve and you should be fine. Also check the pressure in bladder tank it should be 2psi below the "cut-in" pressure for the switch.

If it is a beverage cooler, then yes, that is normal. It allows the temp to remain constant from top to bottom. Domestic refrigerators as a rule shut the fan off with the compressor, but on most any commercial cooler regardless of it's application keeps the fans running all the time.

Freezer runs constantly. food freezes in bottom

I see this happen a lot on these models. The defrost control board is part of four operations. If you changed the Defrost control board then one of the two thermostats is not responding to changes in temperature settings. For freezer if turning the thermostat warmer should cause the compressor not to run as much and open the damper and regulate. If the only place the thermostat setting is placed to off and it responds only to off I would believe that thermostat is the reason. I believe you are on the right track to repair but if you have a look at the wiring diagram you see the connection and point I'm trying to make here. My Subzero Condenser fan runs constantly - but coils are clean

If it is similar to mine at home (Model 550) the condensor fan is designed to run continuously, even when both the freezer and refrigerator are shut off. There is no control or switch in the fan circuit, so it just runs whenever the fridge is plugged in to the wall. It uses about 56 watts.

Oven temp does not remain constant. changes + /- 50 degrees.

Sounds like either an intermittent temperature sensor or its wiring, OR a problem with the electronic control.
We repair a lot of controllers with this sort of symptom.
