Saeco Magic Deluxe resets itself before completing brew cycle

I have a saeco Magic Deluxe. I got it second hand and it has been working fine to about 6 months. Now it does not complete the brewing process. It either starts brewing and dispenses a small amount of coffee prematurely stopping and ejecting the grounds or it grinds and prepares to dispense before reseting itself and empties dry coffee grounds. Can get steam and hot water just no coffee.

I have tried reprogramming, adjusting the grind, changing the dosing amount and using the preground function. All produced similar results.

The machine will prebrew and then dispense for anywhere from 2 - 5 seconds and then the panel will reset and the grounds will be ejected. This will happen even when reprogramming, although it will probably run a few seconds longer. Sometimes while reprogramming i can get about 30ml before it resets.

Sorry in respone to your question, the pump stops when the panel resets

Hi Try reprogramming the machine. Push and hold the button for the coffee you want, but hold it all the way through the process. Don't release the button until you get the amount of coffee you want for that button, then release the button. That should get you the same amount next time. You can do this for each coffee button. If that doesn't fix it, then you might need a new flow meter.

    Hi
Does the pump keep pumping or does it stop right away?

    HI
I doubt its the flow meter although it could be. Does it do this with all the coffee buttons? If it does I would suspect its the board. Sorry

My machine is doing the same thing. It runs fine for about 3/4 of the cycle then resets. It stops about 2 red lights before the top. Did you figure out the problem?

My saeco magic deluxe, doesn't make coffee all the time, it seams the brew group arm is not riseing and the coffee gets dumped in the tray

Sounds like early stage of stripped gears in Gear assembly or faulty Main electronic board. These are the 2 most common problems.

Steady Brew Group Light: Old Saeco Magic deluxe

Open the door on the right. The brew unit is the thing with the handle that has the push on it. You need to push on the upper left side of the brew unit until it clicks. There is an outlet spout on the opposite side of where you are pushing. It goes into an intake port that needs to be lubed, so the outlet spout will slide in without pushing back. That should take care of the missing brew unit.

Water pump in Saeco Magic Deluxe

If you haven't cleaned the brew group, or decalcified the unit I would start there. This is something I do every 4 to 6 months (or anytime I notice the flow of coffee to start to slow down). This normally restores the flow to the original flow level. If you have already done these things you may want to give Saeco support a call and see what they suggest. They are extremely helpful, although very difficult to get on the phone as the phone system they use is horrible and hangs up after you hold more than a certain amount of time.

Temperature control on Saeco magic deluxe

No it cannot. I am not sure why you would want the water hotter. It is designed to be at the perect temperature for passing through the brew group for coffee brewing, its kind of a simple science.
If your machine has been producing less hot coffee gradually, that marks an issue. Try descaling the boiler per the manufacturer's inscrutions even if the warning light isnt on. The other option is that the thermal fuse mounted to the boiler is bad and turns off the boiler prematurely, those cost about $15 and are simple to replace. Lastly, the boiler heating element may be 'burnt out' new boiler is $120+

Water pump?

If you could brewer coffee or get hot water out of the steam wand then it could be the one way valve on the bottom of the water tank. If you are running the pump output into a glass then it is probably scaled up in the boiler.

No coffee, water going to the drip tray

OK, so this is a problem with your brew unit. The unit is not cycling correctly to tell the water to come through.

We had another problem like this just this week.

The wat we fixed it was 1) Give the Brew Unit a really good clean. 2)Make sure the Brew Unit can complete a cycle - manually rotate the brew unit components through a cycle 3) Lubricate the Brew Units moving parts if necessary using some Saeco or Other Food Grade Lubricant

Then try watch a complete coffee cycle by leaving the side door of your machine open, and tricking the micro switches into thinking the door is closed by engaging them with some card or something similar.

Let us know if this does not resolve your issue.

Trouble with Saeco Magic Deluxe

The brew unit is not in securly. Remove the grounds box open the door and remove the brew unit. When replacing it put it in with a good snap and it should be fine. Some times the switch that tells the unit it is in is not as sensitive as it should be.
