Unplug, check if brush has cord wrapped. Check for fuse, if applicable. Check power lead in another supply socket. Check for reset button, if applicable. Contact Panasonic technical support for suggestions before heading to service centre.
Don't overlook the obvious. My DC31 just stopped working when I was using it. No lights, no noise, nothing. After poking around for a a couple of minutes, I removed the battery and then re-inserted it. I gave it a good tap with the palm of my hand to make sure it was seated properly. Everything worked after that.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. Your machine is equipped with a safety device which shuts off cleaner if it starts to overheat - this will often be due to a blockage, or because the filters need a wash. Once the machine has been allowed to cool down for at least 2 hours, you should find it will run again.
To prevent this issue from reoccurring, it's important to run through the steps shown in our online support guide to check everything is correct with the machine:
In normal use, the filters need to be washed at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely before replacing them.
This should resolve things, but if you have any further issues with the machine, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.
Yep - that's usually the culprit if the brush stops turning. However, pull off the skid plate (bottom panel) and make sure you haven't picked up any string or some other obstruction that's wrapped itself around the brush & stopped it from turning. Things like hair/string don't always end up in the bag/bin sometimes if they're long enough they just wrap themselves around the brush.
The brushbar on DC24 is designed to stop rotating when you stand the machine upright, so you don't need to shut the brushbar off manually when you want to use the dusting tools.
If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please get in touch with us, free, on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866ASKDYSON (US), so we can provide you with the assistance you need.
Behind the brush will be a metal thing that spins when the vacuum runs. That's what the belt loops over with the other end around the brush. You can sometimes find the belts a places like wal mart.
Check to see that the belt is not stretched. You can check this by putting your hand under neath the machine and try to stop the brushroll. If it stops then the belt is stretched. I would also make sure that the clutch is engaged. There is a port on the back of these machines where the hose runs before going to the machine, make sure that the port is closed. The lower tube is easy to pull off if you take the 2 screws in the bottom plate that hold it in. These machines have a lot of suction and can clog with ease.
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=846706 Generic problem for all Vacuums I have had my Dirt Posted by mamavelda6 on July 28, 2008 I have had my Dirt Devil for just less than a year. I bought it in September, '07. Last week I was using it and it suddenly stopped running. I can see no reason why. I need to find a nearby repair station. I cannot afford to buy another one. I bought it at Kmart; it was on sale for $49.97. Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I can see your problem but if it is anything more than a new belt or brushroll, it would be cheaper to buy as new one because the price of the part plus the labor fee will be more than the price of a new vacuum or you can buy a good used one from your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. If it is the motor then definitely buy a new vacuum. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://royalvacuums.com/Customer Service 1-800-321-1134 Hours are: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM(EST) Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead.
