2nd gen ipod shuffle non-responsive

Step 1:
Like all electronic devices, iPods sometimes freeze and become unresponsive. Sometimes iPods lock up when they're dropped on the ground or come in contact with water, but less destructive accidents may also cause them to stop working. All versions of the iPod have a way to reset their hardware should they stop playing music or refuse to turn off.

Check the "Hold" switch on the top case of your iPod to be sure it isn't activated. An iPod will appear frozen and unresponsive if this feature is activated. A lock symbol will appear on your iPod's screen if it is in Hold mode. Switch the "Hold" button on and off once. Place one finger on the "Menu" button and another on the center button. Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for up to 8 seconds. Release the "Menu" and center buttons once the Apple logo appears on your iPod's screen. Try releasing the buttons and pressing and holding them a second time if the logo does not appear, as it can sometimes take several tries to reset a severely frozen iPod. Press and hold the top button and the center "Home" button on a frozen and unresponsive iPod touch to reset it. Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen, then release the buttons. Connect your iPod to its powerblock or a computer if it is still frozen. Wait 5 minutes and then try to reset it. Sometimes an iPod can appear frozen when its battery runs out and just needs a few minutes of power to start working again.

How do i turn on my ipod shuffle?.......and how long do i charge the battery for?... and how do i know my ipod is fully charged?

  • first i will cover turning the unit on. then i will cover how to charge the unit.
-Move the power switch on the top of the iPod Shuffle to the "Normal" or "Shuffle" position.
  • Press the play button on the iPod Shuffle to begin music playback. If the iPod does not begin to play, follow the rest of the instructions.
  • Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Shuffle and then connect the other end of the cable to your iPod power adapter.
  • Plug the iPod power adapter into a standard electrical outlet to charge the iPod Shuffle's battery. Try to press the play button again.
  • Connect the iPod Shuffle to your Mac or PC computer using the iPod USB cable. Then, open the iTunes program on the computer and sync your iPod with your music library. If your iPod Shuffle was frozen, it should now turn on.
  • to tell if the ipod shuffle is charging. Eject iPod shuffle in iTunes, but leave it physically connected to the USB port. The front LED should be orange if it's charging (or green if it's fully charged). If it's not charging (such is the case if it's connected to a low-power USB port on a keyboard), you won't see a front LED. If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the comment. thanks and have a great day.

My ipod is frozen. "Connected eject before disconnected."

Hello, if it's still frozen try holding the power button and the center of the scroll wheel, or the power button and the top of the scroll wheel until it restarts, then try re-connecting it again.

Ipod 4th gen nano is frozen on the language selection screen.

That could be one of two problems: Either the cord of the click wheel has been disconnected from its socket which will be an easy fix and you only have to pay labor, or you may just need a new click wheel which should still be cheap.

To turn off shuffle, enter the "Setting" menu, then select "Shuffle" use the forward/back buttons to change the value to "off". To turn off the "Shake" feature, again, enter the "Setting" menu then scroll down and enter the "Playback" menu. switch it to "off".

With the cost of a new shuffle verses repair fees, I would recommend buying a new iPod.

Ipod nano and ipod video 5th generation

First off, simply press the center and menu buttons at the same time to reset the iPod video. That is the common way to fix a frozen iPod.

In regards to the Nano, sounds like the scroll wheel is defective. We would recommend replacing the scroll wheel if a reset does not do the trick.

    Frozen ipod

Try resetting the ipod, this usually works. As follows: How to reset iPod To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: iPod nano (3rd generation) iPod classic iPod (5th generation) iPod nano (2nd generation) iPod nano iPod with color display (iPod photo) iPod (Click Wheel) iPod mini iPod mini (2nd generation) Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector) Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button. When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on. Good luck, and I hope this helps.
