Auto convergence no longer works on Mistubishi WS-55807

Starting about a year and a half ago, the convergence stopped auto aligning but would fix itself after the unit warmed up.

Now, the convergence isn't working much less sporadically and it seems to finally have failed for good.

I've read many other posts that indicate this is solved by replacing or resoldering the convergence IC.

Any advice on where to get replacement convergence ICs and how to install and repair.

Considering calling a local repair shop or getting my brother who's an electronics wiz over to my house to make the repair.

Thanks in advance!

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

You have either bad convergence ICs or just bad grounds on the IC. I would go ahead and replace the ICs and check those small ohm resistors, as you have to pull the signal board out anyway. For futher instructions see the website www.TvRepairKits.com. They may have what you are looking for. Be sure you have the TV model number next to you. I have a Mitsubishi WS-55807 and the colors started to separate - you can reset it by turning if off and on again and it goes away but in time returns, starts getting blury then the colors split up - just...

In your On Screen Display menu (OSD), you should have a place that says "convergence". As a sub heading to this it will say "Auto-Convergence". This is where you want to be! Hit OK under AUTO, and watch the magic happen! If your set happens NOT to have AUTO, you'll have to do it manually. You're going to make the lines all match up doing one color at a time until all three colors are done! It's not hard at all. It may take a little patience at first, but just think of all the money your saving by not having a TV tech come out to your house and you'll be fine!

Mitsu 55'' screen

The convergence ICs probably have a cracked solder joint on the foil side of the circuit board. Re-flowing the the solder would help. I will always replace the convergence ICs when doing this job. The labor remains the same and you will have to pay a few extra bucks for the parts. To fix this yourself, you will need to be able to identify the two convergence ICs (STK392-570), have a basic knowledge of electronics and be able to use a soldering iron.
