That means the laptop is not detecting the battery as authentic or full enough to boot the laptop. Most batteries are now smart batteries, so the battery you bought may be an aftermarket battery not supported by the laptop. Return it and cite the issue.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire won't power on with fully charged 9 cell battery!

Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.

Download WIN98BOOT.ZIP and HPUSBFORMATTER from the internet normal bootable like a diskette won't work with a usb stick
I had mine 2 months it's a common problem with the notebook.
The onely thing that you have to do is download these programs with someone with a internet connection.

Good luck

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 2920 won't turn on, although plugged in with battery

First of all, what I'm about to tell you are general troubleshooting techniques - I make no claim that they will fix what you describe, but they may help lead you to a solution.

  1. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
  2. Plug in the AC adapter and attempt to power on the laptop
  3. If it doesn't power on, see #6 below. If it does power on, but doesn't boot the OS, restart - pressing [SPACE] as the first Windows splash screen appears. When prompted, choose to delete the hibernation file and start a system boot.
  4. Shut the system down, disconnect the AC adapter, reinsert the battery, and attempt to power the laptop. If it doesn't start we know, at the very least, there's a battery problem.
  5. Plug in the AC adapter. If it shuts down immediately, or won't power back on after a shutdown. . .
  6. . . .there's a problem with the system board, probably the ciruitry associated with charging the battery.
I hope you 'see the light'. Good Luck!

SOURCE: I have an Acer Aspire one model zg5- Power cord

Here is another thing you can try. Unplug the power cord, and then remove the battery. Press the "Start" button and hold for 5 seconds. Replace the battery back into the computer and plug in the power cord. Start the machine and see if the low battery message still comes up. Sometimes the program that monitors the battery status gets confused. Doing the above should straighten it out. The Acer should start up and the AC power light should be lit. Look down in your task bar for the battery Icon or go to Battery Status in Control Panel and see if it shows that the battery is charging. Even newer batteries can go bad (rare) but if this is the case and a cell has shorted out in the battery, then your only recourse is exchange under warranty.

SOURCE: Battery will not charge/ keep computer on. laptop

Sounds to me like the transformer circuit that enables the batery to charge. If you have bought your machine within the last 12 months it should still be covered by warranty so go back to the supplier. If not covered I wouod still try as it is not beyond reasonable expecations that the machine will operate perfectly in very way for more than 1 year.

Acer aspire 4339-2618 will not turn on

Is the new charge really one that is supposed to work with your machine? If so leave it plugged in for a about 3 hours and let it charge the battery. Then try turning it on again with the power cord and battery in place. If it still blinks and powers off remove the power cord and try turning it on with just the battery. If it blinks and turns off again the same way then you more than likely have a motherboard issue. Lets rule out the static charge issue by removing the power cord and the battery, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in but leave the battery out and try to start the system up again. If it boots then put the battery back in and Thank The Lord because a dishonest repair shop would have charged you for a motherboard repair. If you can't get it started get a quote from your local computer shop then try the guys at http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com They will fix it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS. Most times their price beats any quote you find including the shipping charge.

How many hours to charge a new acer 4738?, mine is too long to charge, is it natural if new?

A brand new battery has to be charged for 8 hours. For any battery related issue, a reset or calibration can be done.Just drain all the charge in the battery by using the laptop only on battery power( ie,with the Charger/Adaptor disconnected). After the comp shuts down due to no power, then charge the battery for 8-10 hours and then check if its fully getting charged or not
At times a BIOS update can fix battery related issues.

remove the battery and see it the power comes on, if so bad battery, check the connector where the power plugs into the laptop, sometime this breaks or has a cold solder joint, you can test this by wiggling and looking to see if the power lights up. last and worst case is a bad main board.
