I have a brand new Marantz NR1402 AV receiver. The receiver is going to standby mode after 10 secs. I am using Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 as front channel, Dimond CS as centre channel and Bose acoustimass 5 as surround speakers. The front channel is connected to a Pioneer Integrated Amp throug the pre-out of the receiver. The front and centre chanel speakers are 6 ohms while the surround speaker is 8 ohms. What could be the problem.

Hi,
Possibilities for dry soldering. its a Common problem with this model. Also can happen because of aging . Its tedous procees to open and repair the av receivers. Its better to find expert who can do it for you. i think Marantz authorized service center will not do this as its an out dated model . http://electro-medical.blogspot.in/ google.com/+AjinGopakumar
Hi, try powering up the unit with out any speaker connected if it still goes to PROTECT try factory reset if possible.
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter standby mode.
If this does not fix your problem you should take your unit to service . :)

HI,
You can use banana plugs to connect speakers to the speaker post. Connect the wire to the banana plug then insert the banana plug in the speaker post.
If you serch in google with the name speaker banana plug then you will get picture of different types.
You can buy this banana plugs in any nearby electronic spare part shop. They all stock this item. Normally comes in pair ( red, black) Ajin
