Xbox360 screen wont show

I've recently had red rings for my Xbox360. I used the towel trick describe on youtube and i worked. Everything was good except that the screen doesnt work. The sound and everything worked but the screen didnt. I thought it might be the TV so i tried another 1 but thats not it. Any advice?

If it's under 3 years old and you've never opened it up then Microsoft(1-800-4MY-XBOX) will fix it under warranty. Otherwise you'll need to do the x-clamp fix. I've used the kit from http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm to fix this problem for a friend. Good luck

Don't use the xclamp fix. it's only going to last you couple weeks if you are lucky. Go to your local hardware store and get a heatgun. open up your xbox and remove the heatsink on the GPU(one with the flat heatsink). set your heatgun to 300-350 degree. Keep the heatgun about 2inches above the GUP and move the heatgun in circluar motion for 90 seconds. let it cool down and apply new thermal paste the put the heatsink back.

I fixed hundreds with the method.

Red Rim of Death when I switch on my XBOX360! It's no longer covered by warranty! Please help

Log into the xbox.com site and register your xbox for a replacement, after entering your serial number on your xbox you can check if the xbox is really out of warrenty, because of the regular accurance of Red Rings of Death Microsoft has extended warrenty on xbox's that fail because of this

if your xbox is even out of the RROD extended warrenty
the only things you can do is buy a new one or do the towel trick

please check your extended warrenty before attempting the towel trick as it will void your warrenty

the towel trick overheats your motherboard so the thermal paste melts back onto the motherboard, please note this is a completely temporary trick to get your xbox working again

to do the towel trick, unplug everything from your xbox (hdd, Video cables) just have the power cable plugged in, wrap your xbox in 3 or 4 towels and turn it on, either by pushing through the towels or by using your controller, leave the xbox on for 5-10 mins

unwrap your xbox and turn it off
leave the xbox off with everything unplugged for 2-3 hours if not longer (the longer the better, you want to make sure your xbox has completely cooled down) then after it cooling down completely (remember, 2-3 hours minimum) turn your xbox on and it should work, it may experience a fault or two, but a couple of resets generally fixes this, remember this is temporary, might get another month or so out of your xbox

There is three red rings on my xbox360 what should i do

Yes, we agree, the towel method is the worst thing you can try.
It is such a completely ridiculous idea, it will only cause more damage than good!!

With that said, we are able to repair any issues with the XBOX 360 console (and any other console for that matter), in a quick and affordable manner. Currently our turn around time is 2 days or less.

Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
