This sounds like you accidentally hit the input button on your remote. It will either be INPUT or SOURCE on you remote. Turn on your TV and source(cable box) and hit one of those buttons until your picture comes back
Having sound meant TV is working without lcd showing the video. First look to see if lamps are lighting up on the sides. Then consider inverter circuit(drives thin film transistors that operate the tin oxide pixels leaving it all balck) may need replacement.Finally check out video circuit board and video memory for replacement.
Get a check of your picture tube. It may have been destroyed. If yes get it replaced.
P.S: Older picture tubes are of great quality compared to new ones.
Sounds like either the cables you are using are bad or the component out on the dvd player is bad. Try using a different set of cables and make sure there are no loose connections on the dvd player
you have either a bad flyback, bad HV splitter or a Bad HV lead. Can you remove the rear panel and try to see where the hissing is coming from without touching anything? Then let me know, as those type of repairs are easy but you cant touch any parts while trying to determine where the sound is coming from
