Question about Food Processors

Will not turn on

When I try to turn on processor it trips a breaker in my kitchen plug-ins. Even if I plug it in to a regular outlet (without test/reset button), it still will not come on.

With it unplugged -------can you turn the drive shaft -------No --> the motor is toast --get rid of the unit.

KitchenAid KFPM770 motor runs 3 seconds and stops

Determine first if it really is the motor. Does it only cut out if loaded or will it happen without any load? Remove all bowls and blades, plug it in and turn the power on and press the on button. With something plastic press the small white button that is in the middle above the switch panel and normally hidden by the bowl. This is the safety cutout switch avtivated by the bowl, lid and pusher being in position. Does the motor run while the button is depressed or does it again cut out after a short time but with button still depressed. If it doesn't cut out it's likely that wear in the complicated mechanisms in the lid and bowl handle are releasing the cutout switch with small vibrations of motor running. I figure out which one to replace by swapping out one of the 2 parts for a new one as I try to carry both parts in stock for that purpose.

Maybe ------you have too many items plugged into the circuit you want to use. Check the amps of the processor. It may need to be on a single circuit

Kenmore garbage dispsal that made humming noise for like 3 seconds then completly shut down. it's not the power. could the motor be burned out? i already checked the wiring.

Hi there: hate to say but it sounds like the Garb D.'s motor has failed. Perhaps due to a jam up in the blades. The motor will cook before the circuit breaker if the breaker it is on is greater than 15amp. Solution... Turn the power off and try to turn the grinding impeller blades.. If they spin freely on first attempt, which I doubt they will, then the motor is K-put. Hopefully it has a built in thermal trip and will reset itself. But while you have the power is off, clean it out. If you do that and it hums only, you will need to replace motor. sorry

The motor stopped working i unplugged and replugged into a number of outlets...nothing happens is this a burnt out motor or could it be something simple?

Hi there, I just had the same problem and then found an on-line manual that says this:

An automatic, temperature-
controlled circuit breaker in
the motor ensures complete
protection against motor burnout.
If the processor runs for an
exceptionally long time when
chopping, mixing or kneading
a thick or heavy mixture in
successive batches, the motor
may overheat. If this happens,
the processor will stop. Turn it
off and wait for the motor to cool
off before proceeding. It will
usually cool off within 10 minutes.
In extreme cases, it could take
an hour.

Yayyy! Problem solved (I hope)!

You should not have taken it apart - that unit has a fantastic warranty. Call Cuisinart and get it repaired - don't even hint that you took it apart, or your warranty is void.

jo82 - here is how to test your motor to be sure -
Remove the workbowl completely, plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the machine on, take a pen and press in the little black/dark gray button on top of the base. If you hear spinning, then the motor is fine.

If the motor is fine, put the work bowl back in place with handle facing fromt of machine, lid lined up with bowl, and pusher sleeve with metal element lined up with front of machine.

If the motor test failed, call Cuisinart and get the unit repaired.

Robot Coupe clicks, runs 5 seconds, stops for 30 seconds, clicks, runs 5 seconds...

The clicking noise is an internal circuit breaker or motor protector. These things are not made to be bogged down or overfed. The motor is heating up & tripping the overload, after cooloing it resets. Time to buy a new one or get the motor replaced ($600-$800)

It just stopped working

Remove the work bowl from the base of the food processor, and separate the bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve.
Plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the food processor ON, and then use a pen to press in the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor - if you hear some kind of noise, then your motor is still good.
Put the work bowl on first, with the handle facing the front of the food processor.
Put the lid on, with the hollow feed tube facing the back of the processor.
Put the pusher sleeve in the lid, with the sliding lock switch facing the front of the processor.
Your processor should now turn on.

If your food processor still does not turn on, call Cuisinart and see if you are eligible for an in-warranty repair - it has a 3-year warranty.
