Question about JVC HR-XVC27U DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

VHS won't work

I have a JVC HR-XVC27U DVD player/ vcr combo. I have no manual but it has worked exceptionally well up to this point. However, at some point a small red clock symbol appeared beside the time display and has been flashing continuously. DVD functions still work but now when I put in VCRs the player turns off and shows a play symbol and a flashing red circle on the other side of the time display. I can also not switch to the VHS by pushing "VCR/DVD." Any help in returning the player to normal so I can watch VCRs would be appreciated.

Had the same problem on my JVC vcr/dvd combo unit.
You need to turn off the timer function. I did this by making sure my remote was in the "VHS" mode...turn the swith from TV to the right (found on the remote in the upper left corner...an then hit the "vcr" button. Then point the remote at the VCR unit and hit the No. 4 button (timer turns off). Your unit should not have the red timer displayed and you should be able to play your tapes okay.

Hope this helps.

I have a JVC DVD Player & VCR Model HR-XVC27U. It is hooked up to a Panasonic TV CT-32SL14J. I have Cable. With the JVC, I have lost any audio. If I record a VHS, I get picture, no audio. If I...

Shifting a heavy item, or anything really, can cause damage to either the cable or the port the cable is plugged into very easily.

I recommend replacing the audio cable, or trying an alternate audio output (you may be able to choose between RCA-style stereo audio output, digital PCM and digital optical.)

Similarly, the dvd player may be setup to output audio in a format that isn't matching what your AV receiver is expecting - again a variation of either stereo, digital rca or digital optical.

I hope that helps.
