Heater control car has auto temp controls. This morning, 1st time out in cold weather all winter, will only blow heat out vents, with a small amount going to defrost. Control buttons respond to selected push, floor,defrost.ect. Also will not switch to ac. I can control temp, and read outside temp. Control understands command, just will not respond. What's up, can you help? Marty

Maybe I'm not explaining problem well enough. I can control temp with auto control. I can also see change when push buttons to go to defrost, floor or mix. it just does not switch to selected button. Even though control panel shows change, will only blow out of front vents, with a little coming out defrost. For what ever reason it will not switch from blowing out vent. To me, the heater/ac controller is working, however wherever the signal is sent to does not respond to command. Do not know if that is a relay or electric switch of some kind. My hobby is a small collection of 60's muscle cars.new car stuff is not my thing. I'm thankful for any help offered. Marty

Run self test on heater control head. With the key press off and floor buttons at the same time for 2seconds then release and press auto button for a second.this will put system into self test.if no code all the blend door actuators are ok and I would think vacuum leak from main vacuum, black line going through fire

SOURCE: Just got heater core replaced

It sounds like when they replaced your heater core, that they didn't properly hook up the blend door contros at the control panel. I would take it back to the repair shop that did the work and have them go back over things again just to make sure.

SOURCE: 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis will only blow hot air when ac is on

needs re-gassing because one line should be hot (feed) and the return cold , This is a specialist job do not attempt to do it yourself because its extremely dangerous with very high pressures involved

SOURCE: this car has the automatic temperature control system

The hot/cold switch is probably bad.you have a blend door box that opens to let the cold air in and closes to let the hot air in.From what you are saying this part is no responding to the switch movement.Make sure power is at the switch and power should go through the switch when put on cold air this moves the blend door. Some times the blend door goes bad and has to be replaced its under the dash on the right side.

SOURCE: I can turn the ac

It sounds like thermostat (in coolant system) needs to be replaced. They only control you have for temps are the dials on dash, but if coolant thermostat is sticking you're limited to what it outputs. Replace coolant thermostat and you should be "good to go"

In the morning when 1st starting the car, the climate control does not work

If the climate control is on "auto" there is a delay before starting. For 15 minutes it is either freezing cold outside or needs repair. Depending where you live. Well anyway a way around the delay is to go to a manual setting and the system should start blowing right away.

Of course if it hasn't warmed up yet the air will be cold!!

Track the temperature gauge on the dash. As the temperature lift's off and approaches normal range heat should be coming from the vents,

New cars that are super efficient are very slow to heat up. The old gas gushers had plenty of heat to spare

So if you think it is cold where you live heck out the videos,

NO HEAT. A/C works fine. Air blows but no warmth. blows cold air for front defog and cold air blows when temp cranked high 1-5

warmth comes from the heater in the car
if it is climate control check the climate control module
check for heater control in the vent settings as the hot water tap may not be turning on

Sorry for your troubles ,
Temperature Hand in dash reading NORMAL ?
Does it Turn Blue to Red if so is do you feel friction or restraint like your turning something rather than freewheeling (smooth fast turning) or Digital and or does it show that it should be warm and not cold ?
Does the TEMP change at all(even the least little bit could narrow the results down) when knob is turned?
POSSIBLE - The Actuator/Motor that switches the VENTS very well could be BAD , Temperature Switch / Climate Control Switch (hot to cold could be broke at the base and only allowing the knob to turn and not in the switch ) Thermostat may be stuck open (keeping the engine running cool and smooth but no heat , maybe just a slight TEMP change when switched from Cold to Hot ). The A/C Switch is pushed in or turned on or broke and is stuck ON
FIXES - 1st- Check FUSES - If Temp HAND Reads Normal it not your THERMOSTAT. - Change the Control Switch / Temp switch - Check A/C Button/Knob . AUTOZONE is my place of business they PRICE MATCH AS WELL!
Hope this Helps , Flaming Ratchets Auto Repair

I have a jaguar x type my a/c blows hot on one side cold on the other. The it blows heat on both sides then back to hot one side and cold on the other

1st you do realize that the zones on this auto are adjustable from side to side not just front to rear??? , 2nd this auto has an electronic temp control that auto selects whether or not it blows hot or cold on that sides seating area biased on the temp settings of the person in that seat (body temp) , I guess its possible that the dash control module for this could be defective , but its been my own experience that if no one is sitting in that seat it gets a little "confused" and seems to cycle between cold and hot , one can only feel this if you direct all the vents towards the drivers side , simple fix is not to cross direct the vents over to opp. sides , as it will maintain (if working properly) a comfortable setting on drivers side (what ever set temp is )

Driver's side defroster and heater vents blow cold air but the passenger side blows hot. Both sides should blow hot The temp is set any temp and it still does the same thing. It is winter so I don't know...

The doors that open and close in the heater control unit are ran by motors. It sounds like a motor has quit in yours. When turning on the defrosters the motor closes the door to the heat for the floor

WHen we use the auto car starter, it blows cold air, and a lot of it. Its nearing the winter here in New England and I need to know how to set up the starter to blow warm air. Any ideas?

Start the vehcle and let it warm up then set all the controls to heater? Then turn off the car. Use the remote start to start the vehicle and check the controls are still set to heat mode.

Fully warmed up; blowing hot and cold; Suzuki XL-7

Its just a vent damper plate not operating, it's like a gate which controls the flow of air,,usually they are operated by vacuum, or cables.

A/C is on and rear heater blows full blast from vent on the sliding doors

I had the same problem and the gear box that opens and closes the valve for the water flow through the heater core was stripped. I had it replaced because it is a bear to get to. Hope this helps.
