TEAC CTV 1- I have tried to replace the original Remote with other universal Remotes some cheap ones and I have tried alot of dearer ones and do you think any of them can learn or find the right FREQ well no. I have been told by Teac themselves that the remote is still get able but you have to go through Speedy Spares??? I have found a universal remote can be used on many CTV's and I have done it, so whats so special about this model??2- the other thing is, it's just gone down with no Horizontal drive? I have replaced the normal fault causing problems for this make and model. Large Cap's, and a couple burn't Resisters and fixed the track but still no luck, looked at the transformer to see if the windings were open but, and to me the output of the Horizontal checks ok, so?? If you have any suggestions, why you say it belongs to a 79 year old that can not afford a new one?? And cricket starts soon and we have all done this for people. Hi Gerald P, just posted we experienced same problem. Few minutes later my husband has finally solved our problem. Don't know whether you can try the same. We had an old FOXTEL remote, got onto FOXTEL site and instructions how to program remote to control TV.

Dowloaded instructions with code for TV (after trying a few tries, the fifth code solved it). FOXTEL control needs to be programmed with the code suitable to TV. By pressing "ON", "AV", Red button and Select (at same time) then put code in. Turn "OFF" then "ON" see if code complies. If not try another one until you get it.

By using the FOXTEL remote on the "AV" you can change the channels on the TV and adjust volume up or down as well.

Not positive but I think the model number is CTW2850S.

A picture getting smaller and bent inward indicates there are bad capacitors on the main circuit board inside the set. Unfortunately there is no code to fix this type of problem and it needs to be serviced by a qualified technitian.

Just repaired a friend's Toshiba 36inch 200 lb heavy with exactly the same problem.

The receiver inside the TV was the problem and getting to the screws holding the module board in are extremely difficult to remove. Watch the crossover connectors that attach between module boards as they are very delicate. Damage them and you maybe S.O.L.
