• Make sure the player is not on hold. Look at the side of the unit and make sure that the HOLD switch is positioned to OFF. • When you charge the player, does it indicate it's charging? If it does, connect the unit to the PC and poke the reset hold (at the back) with a paper clip until the lights on the unit go out. Disconnect the unit and try turning it on. • Worst case scenario is the unit may be defective.

Use a small papaerclip, pin, or other device and insert it into the reset hole until the GoGear shuts off. You may have to download the more recent version of the software for the device at www.usasupport.philips.com even after doing the reset.
maybe there is some moisture in the unit and it is short circuiting it. I would leave it in an airing cupboard/ some where warm (but not hot) over 2 days.
There is a little cable that connects the led to the circuit board so there isn't much that can go wrong there. So moisture is my guess.
Once the battery has gone totally flat so it is completeley off does it stay on again after it is charged.
Did you install the Drivers?

To reset the player hold in the power button for at least 20 seconds, when you
release the button the player should restart on it's own. If it doesn't then try again
holding the power button for a little longer.
If for some reason the player becomes unstable and resetting doesn?t resolve the
issue, then try the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool which will clean up your player
and restore it to factory settings.

The same thing happened to me and i had no idea what to do. I tried e-mailing the creative headquarters but they wouldnt give me any advice. Finally i realized that there is a reset button on the botom of the player that i never noticed before. If you hold in the play/pause button, hit the reset button, and then release then play/pause button it should take you to a screen where it gives you options on what to do with your player. What i did was reboot it and nothing happened. Whatever you do, DO NOT hit format, or else you will lose all of your picture and music files. I got really frustrated with this problem so glad i could help out.
