Nero Vision 4 refusing to burn to DVD (Memorex DVD Burner)

Well, in my opinion all burners are the same, don't worry too much about the brand or model of the product since the life of the burner is the "reader/burner laser" make sure the lifespan of the burner is long, some of them have up to 400000 hours of useful life, most burners have the lifespan time in the manual, some printed on the box, I recomend to try to get the sweet spot between lifespan and price. Make sure you have a good burning software like nero.

What software are you using to burn?
How big is the data you are burning?
Are you burning data, video (what format)?
What error did you get?

Try burning a data dvd. you must be trying to compile a DVD.

You need to download the program from your computer models web site.Your dvd drive program is corrupt.

3 Burn anything you want

Try first transfering small pieces of your movie to the DVD burner and see what happen (not the whole movie). If works your system probably needs more memory to process a huge file. (freeze)

1) Do not pay attention to speed burning, in my opinion the slower the better.

2) the burner may be dusty, buy a dry dvd lens cleaner and use it.

3) try other media like Verbatiom or Teac and compare results.

4) the lifespan of any burner (depends on use) is about 18 months (my nec 7170-AD stopped working after 10 months), you may have exeded the life span of your burner, replace with new one.

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.

first of all to get data for video and burn it on to a DVD you must have a dvd authoring tool such as nero vision...that will allow you to create the DVD structure etc.... so thats the main missing component for you..
