Need a replacement dvd rw drive

Check on Acer's website and see if there is a firmware upgrade for your drive. If not, it looks like you will have to replace the drive unless it is under warranty.

" This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.

A better not complicated solution is an external drive.

do a driver update on the hardware, and check your setup to see if is enabled as well F2 at start up ok good luck and have a nice day the fixist

u can go on ebay and find one around 80 $ if u go for OEM acer directly u will get it 200 $ or more dont go there in acer becasue acer do not manufac drives they get it from others as belows

just go to ebay and search a dvd rw for notebooks look for these brands below

Optiarc
Toshiba
Pioneer
NEC

Do not go for Matshita or Panasonic in any case
all are 8X write speed Dual Layer dual format + and -

u also need to look out for the front bezel if required u need to change the bezel it is easy u can flip it with ur original bezel in ur notebook from ur old drive that is going out because the only thing that is not universal is ur Bezel other drives have different bezel but dimensions are same to fit all notebooks u just need to replace bezel if required i can assist u more on this if u like .

Replacement cost of CD-RW drives is so low that any repair is uneconomical. Web prices from vendors like Tiger Direct or Newegg start at $20. You'd never find anyone who would even offer repair.

You will need a low profile dvd. Do you want a part and vendor?

Hi, in my experiance 99 times out of 100, it's the CD/DVD gone kaput! sorry... they seem to be rather delicate devices and fail for often NO apperant reason. I suggest ya take it to a reputable "PC Guy" Get a FIRM QUOTE, and replace the unit. If ya tech savy then buy a new unit and replace it, it is REAL simple to do so ya self, usually the sorta "Plug In" I bet that solves ya problem.. :)

You can't use DVD-RW's in the E50.
