Plasma burn-in occurs when the same picture is on the screen for a long time. You should only have a problem if you leave the WII on a menu for extended periods, or leave it paused for extended periods. Be careful about that, and you should be fine.

Hi, Unfortunately with plasma screens, any still picture that is viewed for a lengthy period gets "burned" onto the screen. For example, scoreboards for sports games. Or another prime example would be a video game such as modern warfare where the map ring and the weapons list stay stationary during gameplay.
not necessarily.......my tv stopped working & was able to fix it myself
that smell was something burning out..........obviously
what part though that could be about anything
in mine it was a thermistor...the video section of the tv wont work without it
Most likely you have either a bad X drive board, (ublikely) or a bad display panel (most likely) The panel costs more than the set did new, making replacement a better choice. Sorry to tell you the bad news.
16:9 is the widescreen mode, the other size is 4:3 ratio which is what the game's native size, it is picture boxing by the plazma is showing the size as not to distort the image, to get the full screen picture, but make sure it's not the plazma's setting first - where it selects the size of the image, you may have the streched version on your normal play.
