It is unfortunate that the computer just displays 3 orange and 1 white LEDs. Request you to let me know the system model and then I can check and see what can be done.
This LED flash pattern, Orange, Orange, Orange, Orange, Green (Repeats) indicates a internal failure of the Battery. Pressing the charge indicator button on the battery (If equipped) will give a 1 3 5 LED on indication which also indicates a failure in the battery.
The battery may still function, but at less than optimal performance and will have a progressively shorter functional life until it dies.
The only way to resolve the issue is to replace the battery.
The Dell user manual has the beep codes, which usually are in sequences with short pauses between. To figure out the problem one needs to know the spacing of the codes. Is it 1-2-3, or 2-2-2, or 3-1-2 or what? The first thing I would check is the RAM - make sure it is seated correctly, and try removing all but one stick.
To get monitor work for you, you should connect the VGA cable to CPU. When you remove the VGA cable, monitor has got nothing to display so it goes in stand by mode with orange LED on.
Your battery may have Battery charge status indicator, when you press the button next to the 4 led indicators the LEDs indicate the charge status. Also the System Battery/Charge LED indicates the battery's current operational condition. Flashing orange indicates Battery failure.
if the battery LED blinks orange, most likely there is a problem with the battery itself. Try to remove the battery and have the power cable connected to it. If there is no battery LED blinking, call Dell to replace the battery itself..
you should replace the motherboard or the power supply of your computer. to determine which one to replace is a simple test. disconnect all that is connected to the motherboard and if the problem is still there, then the problem is the motherboard.
Hi! for most dell machines if the power led is orange its an indication of a issue with the ram, try to reseat the ram first.if that doesnt work normally for dimension 4600, there are diagnostic lights that are located at the back panel of the machine, they are four bicolor lights(amber and green) You can determine the exact problem by checking these lights and you can interpret them by going to this website: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4600/en/4600i/sm/adtshoot.htm#1112886
hope this helps...
The power LED if it is flashing AMBER, then the power supply is failing. If the LED is Solid AMBER then the motherboard, or something connected to the motherboard has failed (Video Card, Modem etc)

(More) Hi, At my dell 1525 the battery status led flashes 4x orange folowed by a blue flash a.s.o. The dell manual identifies the battery as the cause. But, except for this optical signalisation, the laptop works well, the battery is charging, the AC adaptor is working properly. What is happening? Stefan
