sounds like a virus or malware, try this, go to spybot, search and destroy and download thier free program, also AVG. com, also free, and run them both in safe mode, also defrag your hard drive, start,programs, accesories, system tools, defrag, it may run several hours, let it a lone, first spybot, then avg, then defrag

When you say "shuts down" do you get a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) or does it just shut down without an error message? It definitely sounds like overheating.
