I have a Pioneer Plasma TV, PDP-4350SX. The power light is on, but no picture or audio

I would assume the power board has a problem. A tech could possibly repair it without replacing the whole board.

Try this! There should be a power button on the bottom of the panel that has to be depressed for the television to power on. It is the main power supply button and without it there is no power going into the TV.

This is a classic "Hic-upping" switchmode power supply problem. The protection circuitry inside the SMPSU, has sensed a severe potential problem, and is attempting the shutting of the set, down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both.
This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, (This set should be removed from the Power),
What is happening is the internal "Fault" that is causing the Protection Circuitry , to detect the problem and attempt to shut down the set, keeps restarting the set, because as soon as it shuts down, the "Faulty" component(s) cool down?, and the "Fault" ostensibly "Clears" so the PSU starts up again, only for the component(s) to heat up, whatever, again and fail, so it shuts down, and if left unattended, this would continue on until the part eventually failed. As related this is called a "Hic-upping Power Supply". Any fault that involves the power supply is usually quite serious, and needs a professional, usually, unless one is familiar with servicing current day, televisions.
And in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center. Now, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their "Local" or a, "Head Office" Philips in your case. Ask them, for a referral to an authorised servicing center, where you ask for a "Quote". Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement.
The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. There are many, many, many reasons that display this symptom, one must work through the troubleshooting steps to isolate and identify, the Cause and repair that and any damage done.

service manual link above,
as an aside here, sometimes things in storage can quickly degrade especially big low value capacitors, these increase in internal resistance, and all sorts of problems ensue, this is why, say, military things are cycled at least weekly when in "Moth balls" to prevent exactly this.

Hi Jim, your nearly there, all you need to do is go into the tv menu and move from DTV to the old type channel numbers and then find the bit where you can manually tune the tv to channel 68.
Have a sky menu picture running and you will see it come in.

To watch Dish Network in your room there a couple of different ways to do it. Unless that cable coming out of your wall is connected to a Dishnetwork reciever its useless. Now if the reciever in your living room is a dual tuner dvr than you can run a cable from one of the two outputs to your bedroom. In this scenario you can watch different channels at the same time. If it isnt a dual tuner then you can actually put a splitter on the cable coming out of the box to the tv(has to be on cable coming out of the reciever) and run it to your bedroom. In this scenario both tvs will show the same channel. In both cases you need a UHF remote(dual tuner DVRs come with one UHF and one infrared) that will allow you to change channels while in your bedroom. If you want HD programing on both tvs you will need to contact Dish Network to get a second reciever. its $7 more a month for a second reciever.

DISH DVR doesn't respond to remote

  1. If this is a TV2 location take the remote to the location of the DVR.
  2. Open the door on the right side of your receiver.
  3. Press SYS INFO.
  4. Press Record multiple times on your remote.
  5. Exit the screen and see if the remote works, if not replace the batteries and repeat steps 1-4
  6. If the remote still doesnt work, and this is a tv2 location (no receiver in the room with the tv) check the antenna on the back of your receiver, make sure that it is connected tightly and standing straight up.
  7. If none of this works call Dish and ask for a new remote.

I have a Philips DVDR 3575H. using Comcast's

Try this set up-

Use an RCA audio/video cable for this set up (Yellow/Red/White).

Connect from the Video out (Yellow) connection on the back of the cable box to the Video in on the back of the DVR.

Connect the audio (Red/White) cables from audio out connection on the back of the cable box to the "Audio in" on the back of the DVR.

This should still get you a decent picture but not a true HD picture for your recordings.

When you set the timer to record set it to record either E1 or E2 depending on which input you connected the cable box to and ensure that the cable box is tuned to the channel you wish to record.

*** NOTE: If you keep the HDMI cable connected as you have for the cable box and watch normal TV through the HDMI input on the TV you will get HD programming for your general viewing but still have the option to record with the DVR at a lower quality. ***

Good Luck and please rate this solution....

Dish Network VIP612 DVR - unwanted "Info" screen

The problem has nothing to do with the television. To fix it, simply change the remote address. The directions for this are in the Dish manual, or you can check it out on the website here: http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/receiver/622.shtml

Hope this helps.

No sound on NON HD channels

I had the exact same problem on a brand new Insignia 26 " LCD with DVD. Comcast tech was able to fix it by changing the Comcast box diagnostics. Here is what he did. Using the Comcast remote with the TV on - press power, cable, menu in that order. A comcast diagnostic srceen will appear. Select Additional HDMI options, then audio options. Change the audio options to L-PCM. Press power again to exit the diagnostics. That will fix it and you get to use the HDMI cable.

Hi

Have questions about your upgrade? We've got the answers. What do I need to do to receive my upgrade? Nothing! Just make sure your DIRECTV HD DVR is continuously connected to your land-based phone line and you will receive the upgrade automatically. When will I receive my upgrade? The 6.3 software upgrade will roll out over a period of several weeks. Customers with more than one DIRECTV HD DVR may receive their upgrades at different times for each receiver. We appreciate your patience while we deliver these new and improved features to eligible DIRECTV HD DVR customers nationwide. Are all DIRECTV DVRs receiving this upgrade? No. DIRECTV DVR models SONY SAT-T60, PHILIPS DSR6000R and HUGHES GXCEBOT will not receive the 6.3 software upgrade. Other models received a similar upgrade, 6.2, in the past. I have a DIRECTV R10 DVR with 6.1 software. Will I receive this upgrade? No. The 6.1 software on the DIRECTV R10 DVR already includes the 6.2 features such as folders and faster menu scrolling. Will any of my DVR settings be changed as a result of the upgrade? Yes, some of your settings or preferences will be changed back to the factory default settings as a result of the upgrade. These include: "Favorite Channels," "Channels You Receive," "Spending Limits," "Clear Channel Banner Quickly" and "Dolby Digital" recording and output. What happens if I don't have my phone line plugged into my DIRECTV DVR? You will not be able to receive the upgrade if your DIRECTV DVR is not connected to your phone line. To install the upgrade, your receiver must successfully make a call to our servers. How will I know when I have received my upgrade? You'll receive an on-screen message the first time you visit DIRECTV Central after your upgrade is complete. It will also appear in your Messages section. You can also check your System Information screen to find out which software version you currently have. Will the download delete any of my currently saved programs? Probably need a software upgrade. Contact Sony for that information. This would be a common fix in most sistuations when using HDMI.
