Re: my sansa e260
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

There's no way of directly deleting a song on the player. You need to do it either via Windows Explorer, or a music manager program which "syncs" to your player.
To delete a song via Windows Explorer, connect your Sansa to your PC, open up "My Computer" (or "Computer" if you're running Vista), and you should see your Sansa listed there. Double-click on it. If you then see "Internal Memory", double-click on that. You should then see a list of folders including "Music". Double-click on that, and you should see a list of songs. If you see a list of folders named after your Artists, double-click on the appropriate Artist folders to find the songs you want to delete. Select the song(s) and press "delete" on your keyboard.
If you use a music manager program such as Windows Media Player, Media Monkey or Winamp to sync music onto your Sansa, just delete the song from the music manager library or playlist(s) you're syncing to your Sansa, then do another sync.
hello when you sync your ipod it will automatically delete all your music off it other then that the 8gig ipod has no delete function on it ,have you try-ed syncing it to a diff computer to see if its your itunes software that's causing the problem ?
The songs are in the wrong format for your particular player. Re-download the songs froma music service that gives you the songs in all mp3 format. All but those 3 songs were probably in either a DRM-encrypted WMA format or AAC (iTunes) format - and your nameless player which you posted in the wrong section doesn't support them. Use Mp3 format only and you will never have any grief.
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there. Either under sync pane in windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete. Hope this helps If you still not able to delete it let me know so I can have you try something else... P.S.Please rate accordingly... Thank You Computerrep
