Question about Panasonic NN-S254BF Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Panasonic Model nn-s252bf.....not heating probably

In have this issue with my microwave.  We purchased the item new in 2003, it worked great for the first couple of years while we were in our new home, however, we seem to be having a heating issue.  For example; it used to just take 2:30 to heat up a bag of popcorn, now takes like 5 minutes.  Sa,e goes for boiling water, only 1 minute then, now more like 2-3 minutes.  It is an over the range type, we really like how it matches our kitchen and hope this isn't something drastic, maybe just a blown fuse in the microwave itself that I could easily repair.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We too bpought this microwave new.. worked great, then last week we heard two "pops" and now it heats really slow. I wonder if the invertor circuitry may be an issue as this machine has an invertor that reduces the amount of power being used ??? I would have thought if the magnetron was gone... it would not heat at all??? COMMENT ?

'Start' button won't depress, seems jammed; timer knob broke off

the button is stuck because of food buildup over the years underneath the button, this happens even to newer ones after about a year of use, new microwaves are cheap and the lower end models start at only $35 from walmart I would reccomend buying a new one, newer microwaves use less power and are more effecient so a new one will pay for itself in saved electricty costs after about 2-3 years of use.

Microwave not heating up food

This model is a lower-end type that probably didn't cost very much. Since it's over 2 years old, you have no warranty left. Most appliance repair shops charge extra $$ for servicing installed items in the home. You'd probably be better off purchasing a new comparable model. The labor fee alone might equal what you paid for it.

Microwave shuts off during use

These units have an issue with the microwave generator overheating. When this happens the unit shuts down to prevent damage to it. When it cools off, it comes back on. That part called a magnetron is not listed to for purchase.
