I am using Windows 2000. My STILL IMAGE SERVICE was disabled. I set it to automatic then restarted my computer. Worked like a charm.

I followed the steps below

> 1. Right-click My Computer and select Manage. This brings up the
> 'Computer Management' window seen below.
>
> 2. Under 'Services and Applications' click Services. This will
> display a list of services in the right pane of the 'Computer
> Management' window. A portion of this window is seen below.
>
> 3. Scroll through the list to locate and then double-click STILL IMAGE SERVICE
>
> 4. Be sure that 'Startup type:' is not set to Disabled. You can
> choose either Automatic or Manual.
>
> 5. Once you have enabled the 'Startup type:', under 'Service status:'
> click the Start button to start the service.

Hello.
I fixed the same MP600 problem (can't find the scanner or corrupt cable) by clicking Default settings on menu of MP600 device (on its display) and unplugging all USB devices except MP600 and restarting the computer.

Hi I found one solution through Google. See if it works.

I had the same problem: suddenly the scanner took ages to calibrate/warm up. Turns out it had to do with the upgrade to Leopard or one of the updates (I'm on 10.5.7).

I downloaded the newest OSX scanner driver from Canon:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=13800

Now it scans without delay. Could have saved myself a lot of waiting a lot earlier!

Saving scans:
I always scan from the MP Navigator instead of from the scanner itself, so I can pre-edit the scans and save as .jpg to the folder I want and/or as a .pdf. Works for me....

Scanner will not scan

Have you tried scanning using MP Navigator rather than the controls on the printer?
I was having this problem and this worked for me.

Slow scanning

I had the same problem on a Mac after upgrading OSX (on 10.5.7 now).

Downloaded the newest scanner driver from Canon:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=2610&modelid=13800
and now it scans without delay!

I always scan using MP Navigator, not from the scanner itself: let's me edit the scans and save where I want as .jpg or .pdf.

Error Message

I had the same problem.Adding twain_32.dll to the Windowsfolder solved the problem. For people who don't want to search for it: Look Here.
Then you won't get this error but one saying to reinstall the printer driver. Just do it and the problem is solved.
