Jumper on motherboard. Can it be used to factory reset the router when the external reset button doesn't work?
There is sort of a universal reset for routers known as 30/30/30.
The trick to this fix is to KEEP HOLDING the reset button in the ENTIRE TIME. Do not release button until ALL steps are done.
Make sure the router is plugged in and ON. Press and hold the reset button in for 30 seconds. UNPLUG from wall (keep holding button in) and wait ANOTHER 30 seconds of hold time. PLUG BACK IN and continue to hold button in ANOTHER 30 seconds. Then release.
The link below is to an article I found on Google, you probably don't need it too, but is included for further clarity.
The 30 30 30 Hard Reset Rule for Routers
Testimonial: "I have tried that in the past and I tried it again, but the only thing that happens is that the LED's flash on and then off. The router never boots. I played around with the 4 pin jumper on the board and it doesn't do much. Pins 1 & 4 shorted together seem to do the same thing as a cold boot. the LED's flash on and off then nothing. Does anyone know where I can get a tech sheet or manual for this thing? I hate to toss a board if I can get it to work again."
The router can be set to factory default by performing either of these two steps:
Resetting the Router Using the Reset Button
Resetting the Router Using the Web-Based Setup Page
NOTE: Pressing the Reset button
on the back of the router for 30 seconds will reset your router to its
factory default settings. All of the settings of the router will then
be erased and the router's IP address will become 192.168.1.1.
