Try the main resets in the back by the a/v in and out jacks. If this does not work, call Sharp Customer Service and tell them that you already did the resets. There is a known problem with a heat dissipation pad for the onboard speakers and they will send a repair tech to replace the pad for free, even if you are out of warranty. At least that was the case with my LC-32D6U.
Your operator manual will tell you where the stereo output jacks are located. Route your stereo sound output to external speakers. Your manual will also tell you how to disable the internal speakers so you can control the external speakers normally with your remote control.
I lost my sound and am using an old (ten years, at least) Panasonic boom-box. It works fine, and I get better sound than with Sharp's internal speakers. My set has two (red & white) RCA sockets for the stereo sound output. I had to buy a cable (cheap) with RCA plugs on both ends to match up the boom-box with the TV sound output, but that's my only expense. If you have a radio or stereo set that has a 1/8 inch stereo input, that'll work too. Use a cable (two wires) with RCA plugs (red & white) on one end, a 1/8 inch stereo plug on the other, connect your TV to the device with the external speakers, and you're in business. You'll need to use the TV's menu to disable the internal speakers.
