Pull the spark plugs out and check their color - as this will tell you if the engine is flooding out or you have an ignition system failure. If they are black check to make sure the choke is opening up and staying open. If the ceramic is light and not brown then the ignition system is failing.

Sputters dies after 5 minutes

If it runs at all, then it is not the spark, so it must be fuel. Flush the tank and put in new clean fuel. If it still does not run right, then you probably need to rebuild the carbureator.

1993 HONDA SHADOW VLX 600, STARTS RUNS FOR 5 MINUTES AND DIES, I CHECKED EVERYTHING FUEL RELATED,IT'S NOT A FUEL PROBLEM

From your description you can be fairly certain it is an electronic problem.

I had a similar problem once with my Honda CX500. I found the connections to the ignition module had gone green and a good clean up restored normal running.

2005 Honda 350 trxtm 4 wheeler

hi, sounds like a stuck float in your carb. Try tapping the carb briskly! sounds like gas is slowly dripping in the bowl overnight and you burn it the next day. I would take the bowl off and see how much gas pours out. It should come out like a light stream of pee. Could be cloged fuel filter or a gumed up or broken float, carb rebuild kits are cheap.
Good Luck!
