Sounds to me like maybe the wash load was not balanced. For example a down comforter will weigh a lot when wet and clump to one side throwing off the balance. It sounds like the machine is tearing itself apart. Leaving it too long when it's tearing itself apart will wreak it. Try running a light and balanced load of laundry to see if it will still work.

It could be the main shaft on the drum or misalignment. There is some flexibility, but not a lot. Check for worn belts, pulley wheels, and other attachments.

SOURCE: wm12x drum stopped

It's probably the bearings. The drum have probably get so loose from the bearing, so the belt have snapped off.

I have had the same problem. If you switch the machine to off and then to cotton/linen 95, then press at the same time prewash, soaking, qick wash and stain buttons for 10 seconds switch it off. When I switched it on it worked.

SOURCE: Three day old Indesit washing machine

Is it a maytag? My maytag front load washing machine had 2 long bolts with plastic braces on them, to keep the drum still during shipping. Mine would bang and shake all over. I got the book out before I finally figured it out. I had to take the back cover off and remove the bolts and plastic braces over them. They look like they' 8 inches long or so. It works great now.

I have an AEG Lavamat 74810 washing machine which is 10 years old. On any cycle , the drum does not spin, on pressing the two left hand buttons, you get error code E52.

The E52 code indicates that the motor is not moving. This could mean the the carbon brushes have worn out, the entire motor is bad or that the wiring or control units have damage so that the message to spin is not getting to the motor.

Take off the back of the washer (after unplugging it). Inspect the motor plug and wiring to that plug. If those look okay, take out the motor and inspect the carbon brushes. If those are worn or broken, then you need to replace them. If the brushes are okay, then the entire motor or the control board are more likely to have a fault. See http://shop.aeg.co.uk/search?prpp=20&ppn=1&psfo=A&filter=category%3ALaundry%3AWashing%2BMachines and use the full product number to find out the part numbers you may need. Other sites will have these parts.

I hope this helps. Please add the product number of your AEG Lavamat 74810 if you need assistance finding parts.

THE DRUM ON MY MACHINE ISNT GOING AROUND AND IT'S NOT SPINNING

Is it old washing machine?
One problem could be belt. It could be dropped. If you hear motor spining noise, but drum isnt spining - this is it.

If you cant hear anything - motor carbong brushes..
If not - electronics problems (semistor or etc).

I need more info to help you better.

My washer has recently started thumping and banging during the spin cycle. I thought it was uneven weight distribution, but it does it every spin now. And when the spinning slows down it has started...

Hi, . according to your washer problem i m writing solution ,please read and follow it:-
  1. Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
  2. check out this following options one by one to locate the fault in your machine.
  3. 1)Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.2)Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.)3)Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub.4)Clear thewater pumpfrom obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water.5)Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers.6)Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.
  4. you can get the required partys from
  5. www.repairclinic.com
  6. I hope this will help.

Drum is making some really nasty banging then screaching sounds when entering high spin - any ideas??

sounds like main drum bearings not common but if the bearings are worn you get the banging noise and as it slackens the drive belt you get screeching noise as the belt slips.

open the back of your machine , you will see the mechanical parts, take a look at the base of your drum and see if there is any loose bolt that is connected to the drum , see also the support that might be loosen

AEG Lavamat 16820: Strange noise coming the machine

Ok, the motor windings are bad. the A.C. hum is a warning that the motor will sound when the windings are separated or shorting. its unable to hold a balanced current.the motor will actually stop soon if it isn't repaired.

AEG LAVAMAT W1450 SOMETHING LOOSE IN DRUM WHEN SPINNING

Sounds like the main drum bearings have gone, if you hold the the drum and can feel up and movement or it sounds noisy or rough when you turn it by hand then it is definately bearings gone.
Unless you know what you are doing ,I would not recommend a D.I.Y. repair.

I'm not a technician, but I own a AEG Lavamat. As far as the owner manual says, this washing machine doesn't allow more than 5 kg.
