On the desktop, right click on MY COMPUTER, and then select MANAGE option. a new window will appear, in that select SYSTEM TOOLS, in that click on DEVICE MANAGER, on the right side of the window pane, a list wil appear,
If USB is enabled in BIOS or EFI but the USB host controller does not appear in Device Manager (under Universal Serial Bus controllers), or a yellow warning icon appears next to the host controller name, then the version of BIOS or EFI may be outdated. Contact the maker or vendor for your computer and obtain the current version of BIOS or EFI.
If the controller appears in Device Manager, right-click the controller name and then click Properties. Problems and suggested actions are displayed under Device status.
USB ports have a separate entry in Device Manager. To check the device status, click Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties. If you do not see USB Root Hub, you might not have a USB port installed on your computer
On the USB Root hub Properties page, it may tell you this device is working properly, or there is a Troubleshoot button. At the bottom you have an option to Enable or Disable the USB hub.
Try following tips: Try to connect your keyboard and mouse directly to your laptop's USB
ports (instead of using the USB hub) and see if they still freeze. OR It sounds like you're using an unpowered hub, which in my experience
tends to cause most common errors with USB peripherals. It's definitely
not recommended to connect any USB devices which aren't supplied with a
power adapter (for instance some 2.5" external HDs and those small
photo printers). These sort of devices should be connected directly to
your laptop at all times. You could also consider buying a powered hub,
i.e. an USB hub which draws its power from a separate power adapter
(and not your single laptop USB port).
if it doesn't work you can try this..
Click Start, and type device manager in the Start Search box.
Click Device Manager in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click USB Root Hub and then click Properties.
In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab.
Remove the check from the Allow the computer to turn off this device to
save power check box. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each USB Root Hub
listed in the Device Manager.
Under Power settings, check the 'USB settings' -> 'USB selective suspend settings' and make sure it is disabled.
Check Thumbnail, highlighted: Open Device manager, Double click on
Universal Serial Bus controller at the bottom, Double Click USB Root
Hub, Click Power Management on top right, Uncheck Allow Power... Hope it works for you.
Check for spyware. They can stop some USB ports from working. Also. Under system properties and device manager. Scroll down to USB devices. Right click on them and there is an option for. Turning off the power save option.
Make sure whether USB ports are working fine or not. Or go to BIOS and check usb devices options enabled. If its enabled , restart your PC. Right click on My computer and go to manage and check device manager. If you see any yellow mark near usb devices or usb root hub you need to install chipset driver for your system mother board. If you are seeing any red mark near usb devices or USB root hub, right click on that and enable the device. If there is no mark and still your mouse doesn't work, issue with either USB ports on mother board or usb mouse.
Dear Sir,madam

2: Go to universal serial bus controller and export it.
3: in each USB root hub right click and then properties.
4: In properties screen select power management tab and unmark on " allow the computer to turn off this device to save power ".
5: After finishing this steps in each USB root hun restart your computer and then done
ok, the answer is pretty simple, ur usb ports connect to a internal hub, that hub is what has malfunctioned, u need to reinstall that device's driver though the device manager on vista, go to start, type device manager in the search box, click device manager in the list, a uac query will appear, click continue, on device manager go to universal serial bus controlers and click the +, right click the usb root hub and uninstall it, repeat that for all of the usb root hubs, then restart ur pc, it will automatically reinstall the devices with a fresh driver, plug in your usb device and it should work, have a great day and happy holidays
is there an extra cable, aside from the Power Cord, and the VGA Cable? if not, look on the back of the monitor, there should be a similar plug in like a USB printer would have, its kinda square. If there is, you just need a USB printer cable to make it work.
may i know what device was connected to those ports?try connecting a mouse to the same ports and see whether it is detected. If it works well and fine.Other wise goto Control panel>>System>>Device manager>>Universal Serial Bus Controllers>>Here, delete all the USB Root hubs.If you are removing them using a mouse connected, then u might lose the mouse response after u delete the USB Root hubs. Please note this.Restart the system after deleting all the Root hubs and wait for a few seconds for them to get installed back.Restart again and confirm whether the issue is resolved
