The driver for the HP 4L printer should be built into Windows 98. Goto add printer, select HP and look for your model. If you cant find the exact model try a laserjet model that is close, it should work fine.

have you downloaded the correct driver for xp? has your pc got the latest xp driver installer from microsoft installed? there is not a lot of the latest drivers for periphials that will work with xp cos there is no support. try using a older version i loved xp it was a good system but i could not get it to work with later drivers for printers etc.drivers

in the printer driver setting there is option to turn on manual duplex printing.
Go to printer driver properties go to printing default under printing default there is a option called finishing in finishing print on both sides is mentioned select that option and i m sure it should work
Dear Gram, Uninstall the software, go to HP site and download the latest drivers for that DJ5550 and install. Make sure to remove all of the HP programs that came with the software. Make sure you select the correct operating system (win98-win-me-win-xp-vista)
