This is a common problem for your GSL25JFR . It is very likely a defective=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board Usally when this happens the start relay, overload and run capacitor are also changed when replacing the WR55X10942 Main Control Board. I'm here should you want my assistance,Thanks, John Tripp Appliance 911

SOURCE: Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Ok the motherboard is malfunctioning. Ive observed this exact problem before. Replace the board and all will be normal again. If you keep lettig it click and click it may finally kill that relay that you descibed to me or even worse the compressor itself.

SOURCE: Sears Kenmore 53652300, doesn't cool

This usually indicates that the compressor is working too hard and drawing too much current. The click that you hear is a safety shut-off. Possible causes of this are numerous and usually require having a professional come in to fix the issue, it can range anywhere from a faulty compressor to a bad start relay.

There is in most cases a temporary fix, it is called a hard start relay/capacitor. It is usually available from an appliance parts retailer for around $15 to $20. Installation instructions are included, just be sure to unplug your refrigerator first and make sure that someone following you can repair from where you left off. This relay assembly can normally get you up and running but it should not be used as a permanent fix. This will not correct for a refrigerant leak in the system.

Check your refrigerator owners manual before making any repairs or modifications to your refrigerator, there may be an extended warranty on the sealed system and compressor.

SOURCE: not cooling, compressor kicks in for 3 seconds then back out

No the PTC relay on the compressor is bad. Need to replace it.

First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

SOURCE: Maytag refrigerator isn't cooling

Hi ****, Based on the discription you've provided it sounds like either a faulty start relay or the compressor is seized. If you have a multi- meter you can check the compressor to see if the windings are ok. Unplug the fridge. Remove the panel at the back down at the bottom. This should gain you access to the compressor. On the side of the comp. will be the start relay/overload assembly. Pull off the relay & overload and you'll see 3 pins in the form of a triangle. With a meter measure between any 2 pins at one time, going between each pin with one remaining on a "common" pin. You'll want 3 measurement's, similar to this example- 6ohms, 3ohms, and 9ohms. On some meters you may simply get a reading of "0" ohms, as long as the needle moves off of "infinity" which would indicate an "open" winding=not good ! If following that, the readings are good, purchase a hard start kit. Part # HS410 also known as a 3in1 starter kit. This will start it if it's not seized also known as a "locked rotor".. You can find them at most brick & mortar appliance parts locations or on-line vendors. The package contains info on how to connect it. If that doesn't yield any results moving forward, let me know we'll go from there. **I suggest you phone Whirlpool customer support first though ( they own Maytag ) as they recently had a massive recall regarding the starting device of many compressor's and you may find your's to be included therefore have it repaired at no cost.** they will know by your model and serial number or if that isn't clear the number on the compressor. Good Luck Thanks for visiting "fixya", please take a second to rate my solution and leave a comment/testimony to it's helpfulness. macmarkus :)

Our Hitachi EC119Sa will not start if the temp is lower than 60. It also kicks out the restart button

Easy test to determine problem. Plug compressor directly into outlet without extension cord. Start compressor with no air in the tank. It it starts, fill to 50-60 psi and unplug from wall to stop. Wait few minutes and plug the compressor back in. It it starts, most likely problem is too heavy oil or the use of extension cord. If it does not start after few minutes wait, most likely not unloading due to leaking intank check valve or bad cold start valve (see reference # 47 on your parts list). The cold start valve should release air from discharge tube after few minutes. If the intank checkvalve is leaking, the cold start valve will not work and stall the compressor. If all test ok, then just replace oil with 10 - 15 - or 20 wt. Good luck

Ge gss25ifrf ww side by side fridge clicking

Sounds like the main control board is bad . Pt # WR55X10656 . This board is located behind the 8 " X 10 " , panel just above the compressor compartment . The compressor relay , is what you hear clicking , cutting the compressor , on/off . Even the dispensor board , is operated by the main control board .

Fridge and freezer not cooling. The fan is running

Is the compressor clicking? If so, the pressure may be too high. tHis happens if the temperature control is lowered too soon after the compressor cuts off, or if house power fails for a shorrt period, etc.

1. UNPLUG the power cord.
2. Set the temperature dial to the settings you want.
3. Close doors and wait a full 10 minutes (more if you don't get impatient).
4. After 10 full minutes, plug power cord back in. It should start now.
5. Try not to open fridge for an hour or so, or until you hear tyhe compressor cycle off.

Hope this hellps!

Air compressor won't stay running even with resetting

How quickly does it shut off? Is it reaching the turn off psi? or is it immediate.
If it is immediate then it is probably a power supply issue.
Air compressors are power hogs. For instance, a compressor may work fine on an outlet using the supplied power cord, but plug it into an extension cord that is insufficient for it and a repeat of your problem will occur. If you use an extension cord make sure it is made just for this kind of application. Also, if possible, give the compressor a dedicated circuit.
Another problem might be your unloader valve not working correctly. This reliefs the pressure inside the pump after the motor has stopped. it would sound like the pump is working extra hard at start-up.

Compressor did not kick back on

make sure your are plugged into an outlet that will support the amps the compressor draws on start up if your plugged into an extension cord make sure its the right size for the lenght of cord ie.if your 50 ft from the outlet you should use a 12-3 cord,100ft 10-3, so on and so forth.

Side by side not cold

compressor overheated or stuck. also check starter relay...maybe broke.
if ever thing is alright,

let it stand for about 4 hours unplugged to cool the compressor.

plug it after 4 hours and if the compressor would still run for 10 seconds, then you have a faulty compressor.

Compressor hums and shuts off

This sounds very much like a compressor failure. unplug the refrigerator and check the condenser for cleanliness. After cleaning the condenser and allowing the compressor to cool, plug it back in and listen for the same sounds. If the compressor was overheated it should restart after it cools. If it does not restart the compressor could be seized. Check the compressor warranty against the age of the refrigerator.

Freezer and Refrigirator not cooling

You didn't say if the compressor is running or not. If it is and all other things you stated are running then it has a sealed system problem. The sealed system comes with a 5 yr warranty in most cases (check owners manual). If the compressor is not running then listen for a click at the compressor. If you hear the click then I would replace the relay on the compressor. If you need further help I will need the complete model # off the sticker inside the fridge section.
