I did some research and found that it is a small part on the television that has gone bad. The problem is that it is sodered to the circuit board. So, in order to fix it I would have to purchase a new circuit board and swap the whole thing out. I have had no luck find a circuit board that matches the one I would need because no one knows who the manufacturer is.
I have same problem. Try pushing the menu button and then a series of channel and volume buttons. I fixed mine twice. Once the tv is on, leave on always. I accidentally shut mine down a third time.

It is the right age for failure---IF you are able look inside at the power supply for bad caps---I will attach photos of what to look for.
The three tries is what is called a three strikes and you are out (no joke)----the unit has built into it (many do) a feature where it will try 3 times to make it up and on and if fails shuts down or stops trying.
Your HDTV is capable of up to 1080P resolution. SDTV (standard def) signals are 480i; EDTV (enhanced def) is 480P; HDTV are 720P, (there is no 720i) 1080i and 1080P. Generally, those modes ending in "P" look better than those ending in "i". 1080i is the highest possible for broadcast TV, but BluRay disks and Directv have 1080P display capabilities.
The double picture you're describing sounds like the TV is set to display only standard or enhanced def signals while the Dish Network box is supplying it with HD signals. You should locate the control for the TV's resolution and make sure it is set to "1080P" and then set the output of your Dish Network set top box to the highest output it offers. Do the same for your BluRay player and any other devices, too.

The TV resolution is set by the video sources, not at the TV, in this case, your Dish network box is the one that is sending out 480p so the TV will display what it is being fed with.
What does Dish TV say aboyt this problem? How about the setup menu on the Dish network box?
Your TV works the same as your PC monitor, except that your monitor does not have a tuner, you adjust the resolution at the PC not at the monitor. 480p in = 480p display.
There are common connections to each receiver but there are unique connections also depending on the receiver. Solo receivers have a coax cable coming from the Dish outside connected to Satellite In. Duo receivers and DVR HD receivers have the coax cable that comes from the dish outside that connects to Satellite 1 and Satellite 2 using a splitter. There is also a cable (coax, RCA (yellow, white, red) or component (green, blue, red - video, white, red - audio) or an HDMI if HD) connected from the receiver to the TV 1. For a duo receiver TV 2 may be backfed on the cable coming from the dish outside using diplexers. This may sound confusing but you can call 1-800-333-3474 for assistance.
IF coming in via, the "Dish" networked receiver, please check that this volume is turned way up, on the TV. and then control the the Volume, with the Dish Remote, often this is a problem, as one is turned down, and the other cannot turn that up, simply try syncing the Volume controls, UP on TV, control the Audio with dish remote. thats all i can think of. Check by feeding a signal IN from an AV, source, ie: Yellow, Video, & Red& White, Audio. Turn TV UP and check, IF it responds to this all is well. If NOT then you do indeed have a fault, with the TV.
have you tryed to go to setting and letting it yout tv know that you want sound onto the hd channels.? if you have any more problems joust contact you coustmer service for dish network. problalby your tv is not compatible and you need an hd receiver. i have dish network myself and just upgraded my receive to hd.
I am going to assume this is a self install meaning you just got a new tv. If you have an HD receiver connected with red/blue/green wires ensure that you also use a set of red/white from the same TV output on receiver to the same audio input on the TV that you have the other wires ran to as the RED/BLUE/GREEN only carry a video signal. Some poor quality HDMI cables will also require the same red/white wires to gain audio as they do not always function properly. Other than that I can think of no other reason you should not be receiving audio other than internal speaker in tv being turned off. This usually is true when a surround sound is in use but the dish receiver was not integrated into the surround but the TV itself. I hope this is of some assistance to you.
