I cannot find four brass finials for a daybed anywhere. Any suggestions?

There should be a nutcap at the bottom of the finial that holds the globe in place. If not, then three set screws around the top of the globe need to be loosened. If the finial turns as well, you should be able to unscrew it all the way out, then you will have to reattach it and use a nut to tighten it up so it doesn't turn in the future.

Grasp the base of the handle under the lever by hnad and turn it counterclockwise. If the whole valve turns, you will need to hold the valve from underneith the sink with a wrench while you unscrew the handle base on top. It is difficult to see, even with the Finial owners manual from Kohler how the two join.

The sliding 'gate' is fixed with screws which will require a flat tip or star tip screw driver and likely a small Allen key of between 3 and 5mm (1/8" and 3/16"). With a little thought and removing all items associated with the vertically sliding 'gate' ONLY you should end up with a lovely stable day bed at no cost.

I just took off the front of the crib (long side) to prevent injuries when my son started climbing out his crib. It's sturdy enough and cheap.

you should be able to go to that same website and just scroll down more towards the end. it should then tell you converting to a daybed.
