Which software? Try going directly online ( not using the drive ) and getting the driver from the manufacterer.

Keep me posted.

Problems such as this really make you mad, don't they. I would uninstall the driver and other software for the Xerox and reinstall it. Files get corrupt or updated and reloading fixes a multitude of problems.

Hello,

When Firefox closes abnormally it often stays in memory. Use the Task manager to flush it out of RAM (CTRL ALT DEL ) and launch it again, or reinstall.

Hope it helps.

Launching Scan Software Launches my Browser

Canon Software doesn't work that well. Adobe Photoshop works well with my Canon N656U.

Also, You may need to run an error check on your computer.

Launching my scanning software launches my browser, then crash

The setup may be accessing your browser for registration of the product. This could be causing your firewall to stop it as it doesn't recognise the request. You need to allow the programme associated with the product to access the internet.

When I try to clik on a game the window pops up for the different rooms but then it wont launch the player

Try to run an antivirus to your computer and launch the game. If it still doesn't work try to reinstall the game, because it would be possible that some of the software associated to game may have been corrupted.

Hate to ask the obvious but; do you have any antivirus software running?
And, when you say 'complete restore and reinstall,' did you do the restore from the files on the D: partition or from CD/DVD? The latter procedure may be reinstalling the problem too.
As much as it pains me to write this, if I had all the necessary disks, I would reformat the drive, a full reformat, not a 'quick' one. I hope you have your personal files backed up and that the 'problem' didn't get backed up with them.
I've not read of a virus that does this specific kind of chaos but I also can't think of anything other than a nasty bug that could do this.
