Brushless 18vlt paddle switch grinder will start up then cuts out then repeats when tried again but slower and no power? What would the cause be? Thanks

There could be several potential causes for the issue you're describing with your brushless 18Vlt paddle switch grinder.
  1. Overheating: If the grinder is running for an extended period of time, it can overheat and shut off as a safety measure. If this is the case, the grinder will need to cool down before it can be used again.
  2. Battery Issue: The grinder may be shutting off because the battery is not providing enough power. This can be caused by a damaged or worn out battery, or by a problem with the battery's connection to the grinder. Make sure the battery is fully charged, check and clean terminals, test battery with other tools, if there is no improvement consider getting new battery
  3. Power switch issue: The switch could have a problem and it's malfunctioning, preventing the grinder from operating properly. The switch may need to be replaced in order to fix the issue.
  4. Motor issue: A problem with the brushless motor itself, could cause it to shut off under load or malfunction. The motor may need to be inspected and repaired or replaced.
  5. Power supply: If the grinder is running off of AC power, rather than a battery, the power supply may be faulty or not providing enough power to the tool.
I suggest you to start with trying to identify the problem by eliminating each possibility one by one. If you are not comfortable troubleshooting and fixing the tool, it may be best to reach out to the manufacturer or take it to a professional repair shop.

How to reset the grinder burrs?

I took the grinder apart and found to have to replace the two metal grinding tools (inside cone and outside ring.
The parts for it were quite cheap. Just get yourself a proper instruction how to do it and follow it religiously. There are marks left by Jura engineers to calibrate the grinder assembly. Changing the actual grinder bits inside does not alter these if put together in the same position. The calibration is essential for a decent taste. After 7 years I would recommend a full service anyway. This will not be cheap, but all seals get replaced or just the brewing unit and the machine will be physically cleaned inside. Only a clean machine will give a decent taste. And the usual cleaning and de-scaling you can do is not enough to maintain a squeaky clean machine over the period of a few 1000 cups of coffee.

My grinder takes 3 times longer to grind now and makes a grating sound.. have emptied out all beans and taped out machine with no luck. cant access blades to clean... started 2 days ago. owned for 2 yrs

Here is something maybe you can try. Of course I know what your problem is, its caked up and dirty from the oil of the beans, over a period of time they form like guey mess. You were on the right path by emptying the bean and shaking it. If this grinder has different setting from maximum course to finest. I am sure it does, remember what mark it was on, write that down. Then put the grind setting on the maximum setting, what that will do is open up the blades, ( unplug machine for safety) so there no so close and then try and us a pipe cleaner, and get down best you can, then shake machine upside down again. Before you put grinder back on the mark you originally had it, turn machine back on and let it try and run with blades set at maximum setting. That will help throw some of that junk out, then turn upside down again and shake, even can use a shop vac and **** some of it out. then dry and put setting back to original setting and see if it works. I hope this helps, let me know by rating my advice. Thanks Mike

I need replacement brushes for a B & D 7750 4.5" grinder and can't find a source. Any ideas? Thanks.

This is considered a throwaway tool when any internal parts break or wear out, including the brushes. It's usually cheaper to buy a new one as opposed to repairing one. If it's still within the warranty period, B&D will replace it or prorate the value depending on how long you've had it. The only replacement parts available for this grinder are the side handle, blade guard, the inner and outer flanges and spanner wrench.

Burr grinder GVX212

I had the same problem, took it all apart, separated the two halves, and looked into the guts of the machine, not an easy task. Fiddled with this and that, and looked at the back of the switch mechanism, and heard it making a 'click' when depressed, so put it all back together, to no avail...It turns out the grinder needs to have two limit switches engaged, one between the lid of the ground coffee hopper and the underside of the grinder hopper housing, and the other between the grinder lid and the base of the unit. This last limit switch was my problem, it seems the lid wasn't making contact with the limit switch, so the unit didn't run. I cleaned out the narrow gap that the grinder lid sits within, pressed the lid down until I heard a small 'click' , pressed the on switch, and presto! it works. You can see this very tiny switch if you take off the grinder lid, and look in the narrow gap it sits in at a position of about three o'clock ( the back of the machine when viewed from the top being 12 o'clock. Hope this helps anyone else who can't find their receipt within the one year warranty period. This is the best burr grinder I've found for the money, and I'm glad mine's still o.k.
