Maintenance I changed two electronic ballast for some lights that were not working, they are T12 4foot florescent bulbs. I fixed them to a degree, the bulbs now work but for some reason they are not as bright as the others and I notice that the light seems to be pulsating through them and the others do not do that what in the world is going on?

Generally you can't run ECO or ALTO tubes (less mercury) in fixtures meant for regular Rapid Start/ Preheat tubes. Other than that Old tubes near end of life sometimes do that.

Fixture not working after bulb change

"CFLs" Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (with built in ballast) must be labeled as dimmable to be used on a dimmer circuit.

Traditional fluorescent fixtures must have a dimmable ballast installed inside and can be used with standard fluorescent lamps.

Fluorescent lamps must be sized to match the ballast. CFL's are matched at the factory, but others are not. Older fluorescent lamp fixtures have a ballast inside. A type rating is to operate (2) 48 inch / 40 watt lamps. Newer fluorescent lamps are rated for 32 watts, and these will not work - or will have a greatly reduced life.

If you installed CFL's, the first thing I would do is install regular incandescent lamps and see if it works as expected. If not, something else is wrong - otherwise - make sure you've got the right lamps in the fixture.

Dear Sirs, I have a BENQ PE8700 projector. I know it's outdated, but it still suits me fine. I've already changed the lamp, and this new one is 1000 hours old. I am recently having a problem:...

If the bulb on this projector is filament less then it may be a bad ballast. If it is that kind of a bulb the ballast is like the starter on a florescent bulb that excites the internal gases for light to be emitted. If it conks out, the bulb stops emitting light even though the cooling fan stays on.

Have 3- 13 watt mini spiral bulbs on fixture. When switch in auto mode, lights hum, flicker and not maximum brightness. When switched to on position, lights stop flickering and humming. Full brightness as...

-Replace the compact florescent bulbs with regular incandescent bulbs and see if problem continues.
-Lighting controls are made for different kinds of bulbs.
-Your package should say what the watt rating and type of bulb.

According to the PR180 manual:
-I am looking at the Leviton PR180 occupancy sensor manual, and the PR180 sell-sheet, and these documents say for incandescent and fluorescent (rapid-start magnetic ballast only).
-Compact fluorescent are supposed to have a magnetic ballast.
-The manual does not specifically say it works with 'compact fluorescent'
-The manual does not say there is a minimum amount of wattage either. Some controls will not work correctly if the overall wattage is low. Your overall wattage is 39watts.

Read the product package (if this is a new installation and you have the package)
Try the incandescent bulbs.
If the PR180 is not your product, add a comment with product number and I'll look for information

How do you take the light fixture apart to fix the balace?

You may find that a new fixture is the easier and cheaper way to go as some ballast can be expensive and hard to find the matching style. A similar style fixture at Home Depot or Lowes cost, in a 2 pack about $18.00. Add a CF bulb to it for another $4.00 and you have a decorative similar fixture. Some ballast cost anywhere from $9.00-$50.00. If you wish to replace the ballast: (turn off the power) remove the globe, remove the existing florescent bulb, take the fixture off the ceiling (usually two screws) remove the wire nuts, make a small diagram of the existing wires and the color codes, take the ballast to the Home Depot or Lowes first, match the ballast. Now reverse the process to replace the fixture. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Wurlitzer 1015 CD 50 disk - florescent bulbs change

You have to rotate the tube 90 degrees until you hear a click, then it pulls straight out of the sockets at the top and bottom (towards you). In order to grip the tube Wurlitzer put a black plastic cap on the end of the tubes with a bit sticking out for you to get hold of. On models where the colour cylinder is flexable you can actually squeeze it in the middle and grab the tube that way.
