Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

1 Answer

H10 My son's H10-5GB does not turn on. Since it is about 2 years old, it is out of warranty. My son is not aware what could have caused the failure. I am certain that condition of the battery is fine. Why? There are 3 other H10s in the family. When I take the battery from my son's and place it in the other 2 they turn on fine. The battery also charges fine. However, if I were to place the battery from either of the working ones into his H10, his still does not turn on. I managed to remove the four screws from under the battery of the H10 that will not turn on to get to the system board but does not have a clue as to what I should be looking for. Is this something that I can fix ? If so, what am I looking for to repair? Does the H10 has such a thing as a fuse? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

I would not mess with the hardware fix, but instead try this "soft" fix:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Tv will not turn on...light is blue but nothing on screen only 2 years old

It may be repairable, but most are not cost effective. As far as age goes, if you use the set frequently, it could be just worn out. Manufacturers build them to last out the warranty and not much more anymore. That's why they only have from 90 day to one year warranties. They don't want you to keep it 10 years until you buy a new one. 2-3 years is the new norm. Take that into consideration when you buy a new one and don't overpay for features that you don't need in the near future. And never buy a extended warranty. They are not cost effective and often have severe limitations that make them more trouble than they are worth. The retailer is the only one making out on them.

One other thing....many sets die because of power issues such as sags, surges, and lightning strikes. These are not covered under warranty. These sets are designed with virtually no tolerances in them for such things anymore, making the susceptible to failure under these conditions. It is advisable to use an UPS on any newer electronic device to prevent these variations. A surge suppressor is nice, but it won't save your unit from power sags, which cause the internal components to draw larger current loads, resulting in damage and eventual component failure. The UPS will preserve your warranty and extend the product's life.

"quadratic function" diophantus , a greek

Let x be Diophantus' age when he died.

His son died 4 years before Diophantus (so Diophantus was then x-4 years old). His son lived half as long as Diophantus so when he (son) died he was x/2.
Diophantus' son was born when Diophantus was (x-4)-x/2 years old. That was 5 years after his marriage so when Diophantus married he was (x-4)-x/2-5 years old. We also know that 1/6 of his life was spent in childhood, 1/12 in youth and 1/7 as bachelor so (x-4)-x/2-5=(1/6+1/12+1/7)x.
Now you solve last equation:
  • x-4-x/2-5=11/28x
  • x/2-11/28x=4+5
  • 3/28x=9
  • x=9*28/3=84 years

Diophantus was 84 years old when he died.

I cannot connect to the internet and my switch light is amber not blue

Hi, if you have moved the switch to the right so as to turn the wifi into the ON position, and it is still amber, there is a 99% chance that it is suffering from the common issue of an overheating graphics chip which causes this problem. If it is less than 2 years old, HP have extended their warranty and you can get a free repair. Otherwise, you can take it to any reputable laptop repair centre who will be well aware of this problem and quote you a price of repair. Best of luck

I have a PLD4375RFC DISHWASHER WILL NOT RUN P F FLASHES AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MIN. it will start and run for 2-3 min.before the power failure unit less then one year old

Sounds like a faulty console panel. They had a problem with moisture getting into it, and causing it to get a PF (power failure) code. If it's under 1yr old, it should still be covered by manufacturers warranty. Part number for console with touchpads is 154639207, failing that, i'd say you have a bad control board, but console much more likely.

We have a Samsung pch521r that was given to my son, we can turn it on but we are not able to get a picture. We cannot even set any settings on the tv. Please Help! My son was so excited to get this tv!

I am sure that it was given because the former owner knew there was a fault!

Very commonly the power supply or high voltage sections fail in these. The tubes in projection sets also go weak and cause failure.

If the set is more than 5 years old it will not be worth investing any money in to it. TV's are not very expensive these days. You should buy your son a nice TV set that he can enjoy. The LCD and Plasma displays will far outperform any of these older projections sets.

Error message on WTW6200sw

Called Whirlpool to report the F1 problem on my over 2 year old, out of warranty, Cabrio washer. I was told that a repairman would be over and that I was responsible for the service call, parts and labor. Then later, I read on this site about this washer having a service recall that corrects the "Machine Control Assy" failure that causes the F1 code. I called back Whirlpool asking why they never said anything about it when I called earlier. This customer service rep said there was a recall which was stopped (he did not know why) but he would extend my warranty (at no charge) for an additional 3 months starting today which will cover all the repair charges.
I asked of the repairman when he came, if he was aware that Whirlpool was covering all parts, labor and service call. He said “yes”, prceeded to check the machine and confirmed that it needed a “Control Assy”. He ordered the part from my home (which was delivered to me) and made an appointment to return the following week to install, which he did.
The machine is now up and running and thanks to contributors to this board, I became aware of Whirlpool taking responsibility for this part failure.

2 year old turned tv on/off several times - TV doesn't turn on

The main power supply is in the protect mode. Usually this is caused by the high voltage section, scan amplifiers, and or the main power supply failing. Many times, when there are failures in the scan amplifier output sections, the main power supply can also be damaged.

On rare occastions, the CRT electron-gun can have a short, and cause this type of failure condition.

An experienced TV tech should be able to service this for you.
