I tried to play a DVD and it works for a few minutes and then shuts off. Then the DVD/CD Tray started acting up not opening and closing, not rotating. I have had this DVD player for a couple years and this is the first time I have encountered this problem.

I put disc in and used the remote to turn the dvd on and it reads hello, PROTECTION, goodbye. The tray will not eject and the system automatically turns off.

The machine just shuts off, I have to unplug and plug back in to make it come on again. As soon as the DVD tray starts to move it shorts out and shuts the receiver off. If I unplug just the DVD, then the receiver functions normally.

The changer mechanism needs to be manually reset. Maybe due to a broken gear.

Tray is lock

Try inserting a pin through the hole beneath the pray. Push the eject button and then insert. If you can't find such a hole, push the eject button and tap hard on the top of the tray twice or thrice. If it is not still working, check for any loose connection.

Try this link:
1. When "REGION CODE ERROR" shows on screen after you've input your wrong-region DVD you push "ON SCREEN".

2. When the DVD-menu is showing push "ON SCREEN" again and another DVD-menu will appear.

3. Move the arrow over to the clock and press enter. The menu asks for "TIME" and you write 0:00:00 and push enter.

4. You will now see the menu for the movie. Remove the DVD-menu by pushing "ON SCREEN" once. You can now watch the movie.

''Bad disc'' error when any disc loaded in JVC XV-N670B DVD Player

There may be a connection to the problem, but it sounds like the laser assembly may need to be replaced as well as/or the mpeg printed circuit board(the printed circuit board) attatched to the laser assy. Good Luck.

DVD player disc tray won't open

take a screw driver and open it up
maybe its a disc that stuck
if not working
probably cheaper to buy a new one

Does not play any disc

Thats bad..Did you try another disc? If this happens even with a different disc. You will need to get a lens cleaner(costs about 5$) and try cleaning the lens. If it still doesn't work then you will have to replace the lens. The reason why it died suddenly is probably because the lens circuitry somehow got shorted. Try cleaning and if not.. replace.

Dvd player is locked

1/ Turn power off for a while at powerpoint for as long as you want 5mins should be fine then turn on and try again.(which youve probably done already) as well as looking up your model number on the net to attain a info on your system.
Does the remote still work if so try to find unlock in menu/setting/functions but if it requires a digit code then youll need the manual as it could have an override built for cases such as yours.
start at surround and find your model
good luck
