Roper fridge not cold

The unit has been cleaned yet the fan that cools the copressor is not working

  • rhandley71 Aug 22, 2008

We have a roper model number RT21LMXKQ02 and the freezer froze and the frig stopped holding cold. My son scraped out the ice and removed the bottom freezer panel and drained the water from the underneath. We than turned the temp to off and let it drain more. When my son went back to turn on the frig only the light comes on. What should we do?

That is then the first thing you will need to insure is running. The fan can be removed and checked. Now if the compressor is not running I would believe you have another problem. You can hear or feel the compressor running and the fan is usually connected to the compressor wiring so they both should be running at the same time. I have seen the fans run for a short period of  time after the refrigerator was turned off and then back on after cooling, so if stopped and starting of the condenser fan can at times trick you to believe the fan is OK
Hope I have been helpful, Sea Breeze

Freezer works fridge does not

Needs to be completely thawed for 2 days. Or wlse the circulator fan under the freezer panel inside freezer is not working. Take the plastic bottom of freezer out and let thaw. Then plug in fridge and check if the fan is running inside there. Do not poke around inside there or fridge will be punctured and ruined.

Freezer works - refrigerator does not

evap fan between the two units is more than likely out. What this fan does is use the cooling from the freezer to cool the fridge. This fan is located in the space between the freezer and fridge and has vent slots in front of it for the transfer of the coolong from the freezer. This fan is more than likely on the same channel as the temp control setting for the fridge. To remove the fan motor you will need to remove that moulded channel and as soon as the channel is off presto there is the fan. Take model # and serial # to an appliance parts store for replacement. Good Luck hope this helped you

Overheating, seals on Roper side by side are hot to the touch

Hi, When that strip gets hot, it is a sign the temperatures are not cold enough. Put a thermomitor in the freezer. You should get a reading of 0 to 5 above. If not, let me know and we can try and get you through this.

Thanks

Fridge won't get cold

Check to make sure that the fan in the freezer is running whenever the compressor turns on to cool the unit down. If the fan's not going, warmer moist air from the fridge will make the air duct frost up. The fan needs to be running to blow the cold air into the fridge section.

Frigerator not cooling

HI thanks for the question. the water at the bottom means a clogged drain tube. which would cause the fridge not to get cold. its blocking the air vets , so the cold air, cant get down to the fridge section. . remove back wall ,of the freezer and clean all the ice build up. the drain tube goes all the way down, to the bottom drain tray .clean that tube. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer.

Fridge doesn't get cold enough

If the evaporator fan is not running. The fan itself could be faulty or the door operated light/fan switch could be faulty.

If the evaporator fan is running. The fridge is not defrosting and ice has built up on the evaporator and the air is not circulating properly into the fridge compartment. The fan circulates cold air into the fridge and back through the fridge control which is normally just an adjustable flap which allows more or less cold into the fridge depending on the setting. If the fridge is not defrosting, the defrost timer could be faulty or heater element could be blown.
