Possibility problems: check cord by opening the back side if your mechanically incline that's if direct cord hard wire into device (mic).
Secondly could be bad power circuit board means you have to sent it out to online address for Sing along distributor/service like Ace karaoke for $100 buck or so.

1.Unplug anything plugged into the headset jack.
2.If you're on a call and holding your phone next to your ear, speak into the microphone and make sure you don't block it with your fingers or shoulder.
3.If you're using a screen protector or case that covers the microphone, remove it. Clear any debris from the microphones.
4.Restart your device.
5.Update to the latest version of iOS.

Test the microphone
To find out if there is an issue with the microphone itself-and not the app you're using or your cellular connection-test the microphone with the built-in Voice Memos app. Speak into the microphone and then play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.

*If you can't hear your own voice the microphone is not working properly, you should replace the piece of hardware.

What is the purpose of the microphone in the dirt duct tube

Hoover uses a small microphone that is positioned in the plastic housing that the end of the hose fits into, just behind the bag compartment. What happens is that when dirt comes up the hose and hits the 90 degree corner, just before it enters the bag, the microphone picks up the sound and transmits that info to the electonics that controls the lights. Sometimes the microphone will stick and the red light will stay lit. If you take a screwdriver and give the microphone area a sharp tap with the handle of the screwdriver, this will often jar the microphone and it will begin working again. If not, it may need to be replaced. NOTE: this function does not affect the cleaning efficiency of the vacuum. Your vacuum will still work normally whether the dirt sensor is working or not. It is a totally unrelated function to the vacuum itself.

My power switch on the handheld microphone is on red all of the time and the microphone is not working

Loosen the top assembly of the mic and see if problem is solved.If not , try to pull out the electronics board now connect the battery and activate the switch. If everything is alright your problem is caused by tight plastic enclosure which does'nt allow free movement of the on and off switch.

My hp pavilion DV6000 microphone does not work

Yo! there are two possibilities. its either
1. the driver of the microphone int the system isn't working again whose solution is to download another one at www.hp.com or
2. the microphone itself is faulty in which case you will have to see a certified computer engineer to fix another.

You seem to have isolated the problem to the microphone. If the opening to the microphone is not blocked by dust or lint or some other substance then the microphone itself will need to be replaced. You might be able to verify the function of the microphone with an oscilloscope or volt meter, or simply replace it. Sorry there is not an easier solution.

Made a noise when the cable moved then quit workin. replaced the cable an the mic still dont work

How sure are you that both of these cables work? Be sure to test them with another microphone to be absolutely positive.
You should also check your input/output to make sure that the gear you're using to record and/or amplify the microphone is all in order. Try another console, or box.
If the cables do work as does the input and output devices, then it is a problem with the microphone itself. If you do not have the necessary equipment and experience to fix a connection, then you're better off calling the manufacturer and asking them. If this issue arose from nothing, then they will likely fix and/or replace the microphone for you free of charge.

Where is the mic switch located on my laptop

P000257700 is microphone number and it could be placed in different places depending on the Toshiba series laptop itself, but most probably it is either (A) right above the screen or (B) right in front of the keyboard where you hold your palms while typing with fingers.
There should be a small hole with either "MIC" written besides or some microphone symbol like <<*>>
P.S. You can also plug ear-buds in the microphone socket - it seems strange, but it ear-buds work just like a microphone.
