Electric cooktop burner is always on hi when it's on

I have an old Amana electric cooktop model akh30 that has two (of 4)burners that are always on hi when turned on. What's the name of the part I need to replace and where can I find it? I think I have identified the part (the burner control, if that's what you call it), but it's listed as ''no longer available''. There must be something comparable that's still made.

I just wanted the name of the part and possible sources. Not worth paying $14 for.
I found it else where.

My jenn-air 8430 cooktop left front burner cycles off-on in the HIGH position. What could be wrong?

Hi,

I am assuming your cooktop is electric and your have a glass top, if so the burners sensor is bad and you might need to replace the burner. Again before buying anything and for me to help you, I would need a full model number. Some model have plate sensors and with no plate/pot burner cycles. Most of the time I find the sensor in the burner cant detect the heat and this ends up being a safety issue to protect the unit. All this information is based on the premise you have an electric cooktop and a glass surface.

I hope this helps.

Hot surface light stays on on GE Profile Cooktop model JP989 and On does not light for left burners. This is only happening on left burners. Left front burner goes to high with any setting on the switch...

You could have a shorted burner, if it is not then you may have gotten a bad part.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

We have a smooth electric cooktop and the burner that has the option of being large or small only lights up small. What part do we need to fix this?

first check the wiring to the burner itself you might have a burnt connection to the larger one or a bad receptacle if both are good then you would have to buy a new burner try allbrands appliance parts they seem to be cheaper

Burner light does not go off on Amana AKT3040

Sounds like a short in that particular burner circuit. Usually when the light stays on even after cool down the heat sensor is bad. This is inside the burner. If your getting white smoke the burner switch could also be shorted out.
