It's not the receiver, it's the interface. If you recently had this unit installed with a door chime or, some other type of LAN data interface to replace the door chimes, the adjustment is off. The interface/door chime needs to accessed to turn the volume down. The interface is neccessary because when you remove the factory stereo from a newer GM vehicle you lose the door chimes, accessory 12 volt power source, ON Star, etc. The LAN data interface replaces these features when adding an aftermarket stereo.
If there is no auxiliary port on the front of the stereo, then you will have to try and find an iPod interface cable that you can wire into the factory stereo. You can use the FM modulator type of iPod adapters, but the sound isn't as good as when it is hard wired. You can look for the iPod interface kits online at a lot of car audio stores. Hope this helps. Good luck!
the changer plays through the fm on the radio, you need to find out what station it is tuned to. should be between 88 and 95 or so. you could just try seeking until the changer is picked up.
SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO PLUG INTO THE HEADPHONES JACK AT THE FRONT ! NO GOOD . YOU NEED TO HAVE STEREO ON. AND USE AUX. TO DO THIS pLUG IN YOUR MP3 PLAYER WITH 3.5 STEREO JACK OTHER END BACK OF STEREO INTO AUX. RED AND WHITE RCA PLUGS. THIS LEAD COSTS LESS THAN $7.00 AND THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD THEN. ! I DID IT MYSELF AND AM HAPPY WITH IT .
i have alpine stereo's in all my vehicles and i have had this problem. if you run a 10-14 gauge constant wire from the stereo directly to the battery the stereo will not shut down in protection mode. it is not the cd it is the stereo going into protection mode because of lack of current not voltage. i hope this helps after i did this i could play the stereo as loud as it can go until my battery died
