My backspace, enter, and directional keys aren't working.

My left and up keys still work fine but my backspace, enter, down and left keys work on and off... all started when I tried to catch my laptop from falling, it slammed into my palm pretty hard... any ideas? Thanks.

SOURCE: "lost backspace button on Acer Aspire One"

Unfortunately, there is no way to purchase just one key of the keyboard. Acer does offer full replacement keyboards and they are easy enough to install. Unless you can find just the backspace key on eBay or something, you might have to replace the entire keyboard.

Thanks for using the fixya Forums.

SOURCE: enter key not working

If after some time in front of a fan (to dry the keyboard out), the keys still do not work, you will need to replace the keyboard.
Just in case it was more than water (ie. soda pop, energy drink, koolade,. etc with sugarin it). you may need to do more than just replace the keyboard s the connector on the motherboard may have gotten sugar in it as well.

SOURCE: my lap some button are not working ,like enter

Hi! The problem could be on the keyboard itself. You will have to replace the keyboard to make all the keys to function. Once replaced they'll all be back to normal. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Just been given a ASUS Eee PC 900, with Linux. It says press the Enter Key, but I can not find a Enter Key as such. What key do I have to press.? Driving me crazy

Well, the Enter key is the one with the symbol of a left-pointing arrow with a short 'up bit' on the right-hand side of it. I think its to the right of the @ sign and on the same row. Incidentally the OTHER left-pointing arrow without the up bit on it is the backspace. Thats up above the Enter key also on the right-hand side of the keyboard. Regards, nicam49

How do you set margins

You move the carrier, with the space bar or backspace key, to where you want the margin to be set.
If the carrier stops before you get to where you want to set the margin, then locate the ALT key at the bottom left on the keyboard, hold it down, then locate the key directly under the words above the keyboard that say M REL (the 3 key) and push it. Then move the carrier with the space bar or backspace key. (whichever direction you want to go)
When the carrier is where you want the margin set, hold down the ALT key and push the key under where it says L MAR (4) to set the left margin, or R MAR (5) to set the right margin.
The ALT key works with all the functions listed above the keyboard.
The CODE key works with the functions/charachters printed on the keys themselves.

My cursor keeps moving to the left making typing almost immposible sometimes it works fine ??!

Either the "left-arrow" or the "backspace" keys on your keyboard is getting stuck in the "down" position.

Take the computer to a qualified technician, and get the keyboard replaced.

Space bar, left-side enter key and backspace do not respond.

Try buying a can of compressed air and cleaning around those areas if you have spilled liquid on them ,that could be the prob as well

What keys do I use the change the left and right margins?

You set the margins by putting the printhead where you want the margin set, and holding down the CODE key, push the key under where L MAR or R MAR is printed, (above the top keys on the keyboard) depending on whether you want to set the right or left margin.
If you want to set the left margin to the left of where it's set, hold down the CODE key and push the key under MAR REL. Then using the Backspace (or spacebar, if you backspace too far) position the printhead where you want the mar. set and holding down the CODE key, hit the key under L MAR.
Setting the right margin works the same way.
