Bleeding the radiator

take the top off the header tank ( part you fill the water in) top to the top run engine until it boils or fan kicks in to cool down the engine. while it is heating up squeeze the pipes around the engine to help release the air better DONT put your hands near any moving parts. keep the water full to the top while doing this. when at temp turn off engine and leave to cool down dont add any water or do anything till it has cooled down. when cooled down top up to the mark and should be good then if not then the thermostat may be faulty. or you have a blockage some were in the system that is causing the over boiling problem also check that the fan is working and the temp switch for the fan is working all these can make the engine over heat, also when bleeding the system have the heater on number one and heat on full.

How do I replace the fan motor? also, how do I get the fan off?

To remove the fan, you need to remove the front grill. Unscrew the 4 screws on the corner of the grill, then remove the grill. The fan can be removed by just pulling on the hub. The fan motor is attached to the machine by two nuts that face the back of the machine. So you need to remove the guts of the machine to unscrew the nuts.

To remove the fan motor, you need unscrew the screw that is above the AC plug, to remove the back grill, then remove the filter plate. Once that is removed, you need to remove four screws that holds the lower plate that houses the AC plug. Once that plate is unscrewed, then disconnect the power conector from the main board and then the green ground lug to free the AC plug.

You will need to remove the main board. To do that, you will need to disconnect the keypad/display connector. It the one that looks like a telephone RJ connector, its located near middle of the main board. Next, you need to unlatch the red wire that runs down from the main board to the front of the machine. Once that is undone, then the alunimum chasis that hold the main board can be slid backwards giving you access to unbolt the two nuts that hold the fan motor.

Hope this helps you.

Dust caked up on wires and fan,how do you take it apart to clean it?

This question seems similar to another post from a while ago. http://www.fixya.com/support/t5074178-like_clean I just finished my Blue Air 500 for the same problem with loads of collected hair and dust around the fan. The manufacturer manual does not cover this type of cleaning and they do not want people to open the unit as it might void the warranty. It's actually simple you've done it but not obvious. There are 4 screws which you may not have seen on the top until you pop off the top grill. Remove those as they fasten the side curved panels, once the top screws are removed tug on the white curved pieces upwards and they should come off. Once these are off you should have full access to the interior to clean. Ours was utterly filthy and way past the warranty.

Blueaire 501 dust caked up on wires and fan,how do you take it apart to clean it?

Hi, I have had the same problem and have figured out how to open it.

To open your blueair air purifier, follow the steps below;
1. Get a phillips head screwdriver,
2. Open the unit and remove the air filters.
3. Use the phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that you can see.
4. After taking out the screws, remove the "galvanizedSwedish steel housing"
(cream coloured sides) of the purifier by lifting it upwards (i.e. from bottom to top of unit).
4. You will now have access to the interior of the purifier.
5. You can now take out the fan and clean it, or what ever part you are trying to clean. I used a Dyson HEPA vacuum cleaner.
6. To reassemble, reverse the instructions above to reassemble the purifier.

Dust filter has indicated extreme level of dust for several days making the fan stay on high. any way around having it professionally repaired?

- Remove the top two screws from the control panel.
- Remove the control panel. Be careful not to pull to hard as there is a ribbon cable taped into place.
- If the ribbon cable is taped, remove the tape and set down the panel as to not put weight on the ribbon cable.
- On the top left side of the unit (behind the dust sensor), there is a small box that is held in by a screw and plastic clips. Remove the screw and put tension on the clips so you can remove the box.
- there should be two holes in the box (one on each side), use a cotton swab and alcohol to clean outside and inside the box. I reached inside with the wet swab as far as it would reach.
- While you are in there, take some time to remove as much dust off of the front panel and anywhere else it may be.

That did the trick for me.

Do I need a new fan blade if I replace the fan or will the old one go back on fairly easy? Ecoquest fresh air

If you need to replace the fan motor, the fan blade can be removed by grasphing the center hub of the fan and pull the fan straight out of the purifier. I remove it every time I clean my machine, since it easy to clean it once it is removed.

I have an Oreck air purifier model (air 4000). The power light is on but the fan will not turn unless I put it on high speed and manually push the fan to give it a jump start for it to start running but...

I tried that solution and it did not work due to the worn bushing. I went on line to CSH incorporated and ordered #534 Open Ventilation Fan & Blower Duty motor. The motor is a ball bearing motor rather than bushing, and is an exact replacement for the Fasco motor on the original. The repair is easy and a cheap repair at cost of about $67 dollars for the motor plus shipping. The unit now works great again.

Cleaning the top of the oreck air purifier

what i normally do, is i take off the top of the and remove the filter, the metal dust catcher, and the back filter... i was the 2 filters and rub them down. then with the metal dust catcher i take a butter knife. wrap it in a clorox wipe (making sure that no metal is exposed to scratch) then i feed it through the metal dust catcher one at a time to clean it. It took me 5 wipes to clean the whole thing. when the wipe comes out black then i rotate it. As for the top of the machine. there are 2 screws that i removed to get to the fan. when they were out i used a can of air (like you would clean a computer with) and blew out the fan... it took care of all noise and it runs just like the day i got it.

Clean fan area

NOTE:It is easier to remove the motor when the upper housing is still sitting on top of the lower housing unit.
  1. Turn the power off by unplugging the unit.
  2. Next to the speed directions buttons there are thumb tabs. Press the thumb tabs so that they pop up and unlock the upper housing flaps. a tumb tab on
  3. The four flaps should then drop down like the peddles of a flower.
  4. Grab the center of the motor and lift straight up, be careful when pulling the power chord.
  5. The motor, fan and gear assembly should not be seperated from the rest of the unit.
This will let you clean with vinegar and water.

Great product. Germany design at its best
