Memory low First day printer used, after a large multipaged document was printed, the printer would no longer print more than one page at a time of any document, with the screen saying memory too low. Disconnected wifi, went to cable, still the same. Turned off the computer and restarted it , no effect

When getting the error message Low Memory, this means one of two things. Either the print job that you are sending to the printer is to big, or the fuser in the printer is to hot, and needs to cool down. I would not recommend printing in raster mode, as this can cause further issues within the software. A couple of steps that you could try are:

1. If there are previous print jobs in the queue wait until they are completed
2. Power down the printer for a minimum of 30 seconds
3. If you are printing a large amount of pages, break it down into smaller jobs
4. If printing documents, change the setting to either fast draft, or draft mode

I guess you are using word. In that case the default driver you use and comes standard with windows is flawed. Download a new one from HP.

SOURCE: Trouble with duplex printing

I think your problem is that the 5550 supports manual duplex printing. Print every other page then feed them through again. Never tried it though. Dave Reed

Restart the Printer first and then the computer, try Printing some thing.

Hi,
it seems you might need to rest teh PC..
Once you have done that and assuming you are running windows pls do the following (while the printer is OFF)

1. Go to "Start", "Run"
2. Type: CMD
3. press "Enter"
(now you should be in a DOS terminal window)
4. type: net stop spooler
press "enter"
5. type: net start spooler
press "enter"
6. type: exit
press enter

Turn on the printer...you should be clear now :)
Cheers,
Ed

Extremely slow printing

The printer is an inkjet printer. Inkjet printers are slow printers compared to laser printers.

Also the print speed depends on the size of the document printed.
If it is a large photo or file, it will take longer than small notepad file.

Speed also depends on coverage. A page with a lot of it covered in ink, will take longer than a page which is only coverd in ink on a small part.

Also the print speed depends on computer memory and USB cable. Fast cable and a lot of memory mean fast transmission of data to the printer.
Slow cable and small amount of memory (512Mb, or 256Mb or less) mean slow transmission of data to printer

Prints blank pages

hi jcruisedirec

Test print shows that there is no problem with he printer.
Do this:

Type just one or two words in a new document and try to print. Before printing, look at the print setup and make sure you have the correct printer name selected.
Also when you go to print, there are few options like:

  • Print All
  • Current page
  • Pages
  • Selection
If you attempt to print "selection" without actually selecting a certain portion of the document, you get blank page.
So first check that the correct name of the printer is selected.
Then test printing one page
Hope this will help you. Good luck.

You want print a large file? you will get this problem.
Solution:
1. divide your file to small printing jobs: example: 50 pages must be printed 4 times 12 pages.

Printing speed problem

Laserjets have limited amount of ram to keep large docs in memory, you can increase the document or in windows have it spool on your machine first.

My printer(hp laser jet 1320) dosen't print correctly in more then 30 pages.

sounds like a memory issues or a windows swap file problem. when printing large docs u need to have some free memory in the computer. Also some printers 2 day used windows memory to print so if your pc only has small amount of free memory it can effect printing out large docs. also with a laptop it shares it memory with the video GPU. so you may need to upgrade your memory in your laptop .
