Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ https://elektrotricks.blogspot.com/
Try the old flashlight test, turn off the lights in the room. Turn on the set and flash a bright flashlight on the screen. Do you see the image or is the screen totally black?? If you see the image, then most likely you have a backlight problem. Verify that you have 24V on the power supply for the inverter
It sounds like it was maybe dropped, or recieved some kind of physical trauma. The Lines on the screen sound like they could be from a loose electrical connection between the screen and the mother board, and that may be why you need to apply pressure to the back of the device. your best bet would be to return the device to sharper image for repair or warranty work. If the screen is black and you have sound then lightly press and shine a strong flashlight against the screen. If you see an image around the edge of the flashlight, an image is being 'displayed'. The problem is probably in the Inverter/CCFT or the power going to the Inverter.
this happened to us also. If it's happening with the lights on, unhook the orange dimmer wire. our would workonly when the lights were off. the second we turned the light on the system would shut off. once we unhooked the orange wire it stopped doing it. we installed it in a 2003 mercury mountaineer.
I can't imagine a setting that would cause this - It sound more like some sort of fault with the projector's blue LCD panel. (The image is created from a mix of red, green and blue light. If you loose the blue, everything will look yellow.)
Is it capable of showing any shades of blue?
Using any graphics or photo-editing software, create a solid blue image (R=0, G=0, B=255 in your colour settings) and if possible, display this full-screen. Is there any output from the projector at all when you do?
If not, it sounds like it need a professional repair.
