Hard drive problem

Had to switch off computer manually as it would not respond. I tried con alt del but it didnt work.  when i switched it back on it went to blue screen and chckdsk it completed so far and stopped responding again. had to turn back off and skip chckdsk, looked for help and found you. can you help ?

    I connected simple drive but can not use it as it does not appear as external drive in MY computer

I recently have that kind of problem just a few days ago... I suspected a new virus... I scanned the hard disk but didn't find any maybe its new... so I have made a back-up of the files in it (burn them on a CD/DVD) then re-installed the entire system... so far my computer works fine now. You could try the "system restore" to fix the problem but if it doesn't work. I think the only way is to re-install it, just don't forget to get all your important files.

Snap show has taken over my computer it keeps running all the time and won't let me acess any other files, it wont let me close it down

Go to Task Manager, Crtl Alt Del keys, or click, on task bar and select task manager... find that program, and Kill it, then go add-remove programs and find and delete that software, problem gone.

Hi its Gum here haha!JFA.. Well i shut my laptop off one night after bitdefender said it blocked multiple viruses as a precaution, and in the morning when i turned it on the Acer logo showed then it went...

Guess I don't need to tell you to always back up your work on a thumb drive. Have you tried inserting the disk that came with the computer? It might get you back to system restore. Good luck.

it sounds like your hard drive is having issues. it may not be dead, but one of your boot files is corrupted. try starting the computer from your windows disk. and select the repair option. if you cant get any farther or get a read error your hard drive is dead.

My gateway desktop does not want to start,

Check you bios configuration with Date and time correction.
See if your computer need cpu fan cleaning. Try to run F8 and scan your computer after you have accessed to safemode. Goodluck

Try to push and hold the power button. It more than likely went into hibernation/sleep mode. If this does nothing then remove the battery and charger, then put the battery back in and plug it in and see if this does anything.

HP pavilion will not shut down

pull the power cord out and the battery (or just let it run out). Then, try turning it back on again. If it does the same thing again then yes it may be old blue death and your harddrive may be worse than dead. I don't believe that the power button doesn't work. Hold it in for 10-15 seconds or so, any computer is DOS programmed to respond to the power commands above all, even above the dreaded blue screens. Let me know if I'm an ******* and I don't know what I'm talking about or if you need more help.
