I am trying to print some lables, Dell 5110 cn, the printer will not accept the command, it says that it does not detect any paper in the tray, also it says I must feed the printer using the manual feeder. What and where is this manual feeder. I do not have a user manual. HELP Jesse

Go to menu, in tray tray behaving tray1 select as unless paper load,in tray2 page size as any size.. while giving print command select printer properties, goto paper/quality select paper source automatic or tray2 & shoot print command & check...
# if you are not selected tray 1 as unless paper load, it will ask paper to load after command reached to it.
# if you are not selected tray2 as any paper size, defined paper size only it will allow to print..any paper size it will print with out questing you..

This has to do with the document printing properties. When you are ready to print a document, choose properties and make sure you go through the printer settings under that software.
The test page only verifies the cartridges. The printer properties of the software control the printer during printing.

Are you trying to use the "MPF" (Manual Paper Feed) tray?

If you are then the manual paper feed tray is usually a fold down flap at the back of the printer. It only accepts on piece of paper at a time.

However, if you are just trying to print to the printer's default tray, then you need to check both the "Page Setup" in the application and the printer driver properties to make sure that you are calling the correct paper tray.

it's asking for paper in the manual Paper Feeder (MPF). Somewhere in your settings you have it printing to the MPF. Check the settings in the printer prefrences, the printer itself and the software you're using.

something else you might try is taping the card to a full-size sheet of paper, so the printer can push it through with ALL the rollers at the same time. not all printers have a roller all the way across, so index cards get snagged by one side, and they'll walk to the opposite side while they're printing.

Hi, your printer tray 1 is not detected by controler, so you need do:
1) change other tray box instead if you have same one, easy fix it
2) check tray 1 box back side, there is a sensor (optical sensor it does not work), you need find out a white lable stick around there, if the lable is not white enough, the optical sensor does not detecting tray 1.

All media types that are not Plain 1 should be printed from the MPF only.

To verify the printing preferences is set to print from the correct tray with the correct paper size, perform the following steps:

1. Click the Start button, go to Settings, and click Printers and Faxes.

2. Right-click Dell Laser Printer 3000cn / 3010cn / 3100cn / 5100cn-series and click Printing Preferences.
   The Printing Preferences window appears.

4. Click the Paper Tray tab.
5. Click the Paper Source drop-down menu and select the specific tray to be printed from.

Do not replace any printer hardware as this is not a printer hardware issue.

First customize the paper size in the Page Setup. Secondly when you send command for print, change the paper size to custom size from the Printer Properties and click print. On the other hand, you can select the paper size from the printer's menu itself after sending the print command. Please make sure that the right driver of the printer is installed on your computer.

The MPF is simply the "Manual Paper Feed".
Your printer is set by default that the MPF paper type is "plain paper". Since you are telling the printer that you are trying to print lables, the printer is simply telling you that you need to load the MPF with lables.

If you say "ok", the printer sould continue and print the lables.

If you only print lables, the you can change the default paper for the MPF tray to "lables", and then you will no longer be prompted to load the tray.
