Sharp aquos fault

I bought a sharp aquos tv 11 months ago and it has now developed a fault.
When the set is turned on the picture will instantly disappear and continue in sound only. It wil take many re-starts for the set to provide a steady picture. When warm it will start immediately.I have discounted loose aerial fault as a different tv will work o.k

Please advise

Many thanks Guest and tpranav. Have been advised by 'expert' to contact Sharp while set is still in warranty. However the reason for hesitation was that the set was bought in England and we are now living in France. Have now found out that this may not be a problem and Sharp in France have been E-mailed(no response yet).

    Will keep you informed

my LC-40c32u Sharp Aquos has the same problem after only 12 months. Is Sharp going to recall this set or offer a fix?

  • gooze Mar 03, 2008

Nonsense. I have the same problem with my Sharp 32D40U. I removed the back and checked all the PCB board screws. Everything is tight. I also talked to a TV repairman who said that fixing such a problem by merely tightening some screws is ridiculous. Please folks, can we not post B.S. here??!!!

The set is just 2 years old and like the previous posts, the picture stays on for less than 30 seconds and the screen goes blank while the sound continues. The picture only stays on after numerous restarts. It some times cuts off at odd times in the middle of a program. This has been going on for about three months and now the color is way off, every thing looks brown and purple. There is no red or green and I cannot adjust it using the menu button.

Thanks to this forum, I was able to confidently contact Sharp and get my TV fixed.

My 32" LCD had the same problem (sound but no picture) and was out of warranty, however I phoned Sharp UK and suggested that it was a manufacturing defect rather than component failure and should be repaired free of charge - which they did!!

I tightened the six screws on my LC-40C32U and it seems to have worked. It's been bugging me for weeks.

It works..technician came and tightended the screws...that's all.

This fault has been fixed on my TV by the Sharp Engineer. Inside the cover on the right as you look at the back is the PCB that controls the back lights, the screws holdong this assembly can come lose. The engineer removed the PCB and the metal cover over it, cleaned the pads on the board and where the PCB touches the metal cover  and the TV chassis before putting it all back together making sure the screws were properly tight this time. He also at this time uppdated the firmware / software which apparently fixes a few other bugs like the pictuer going blank if you quickly cycle through the channels.

We have a 52" Aquos

Go into the user menu and set the default to full. If this does not correct your issue, then take it to a service center. You are still covered under Warranty.

Sharp aquos 46d62u has sound, but no picture

We have the same problem with our 32" Aquos. Turn on the TV and after a couple seconds the picture goes out but still have audio. So this solution doesn't permanently fix the problem, but it works instantly to get the picture back. With the TV turned off, tap the side of the set twice with the palm of your hand. Turn the TV back on, and VOILA, you have a picture. I know the last thing you think to do is to hit your TV to fix it, but that is often how my husband tries to fix things...this time it worked!!

Sharp Aquos 46 In TV Problems:

Sharp list no issues or service tips for this model but I am sure most freeze ups are and issue of weak cable signals or defective cable receivers. If this has truly been elimnated the main digital pcb in the TV could be issue or more likely the TV may need the latest software upgrade. This is most likely only able to be facilitated by a Sharp auth. service center.
