1. Press the Menu button 2. Highlight 'Messages', then press Select 3. Highlight 'Message settings', then press Select 4. Highlight 'Multimedia msgs.', then press Select 5. Enter 'giffgaff MMS', then press OK 14. Highlight 'Homepage', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002' and press OK 15. Highlight 'Session mode', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'Permanent' and press Select 16. Highlight 'Data Bearer', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'GPRS' and press Select 17. Highlight 'GPRS access Point', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'giffgaff.com' and press OK 18. Highlight 'IP Address', then press Select (left softkey). Enter '193.113.200.195' and press OK 20. Highlight 'Authentication type', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'Normal' and press Select 21. Highlight 'User name', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'giffgaff' and press OK 22. Highlight 'Password', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'password' and press OK 23. When asked to 'Verify new password' enter 'password' and then press OK 24. Press Back (right softkey) 6 times to return to the standby screen.

Settings - GPRS WAP
Sony Ericsson W580i GPRS WAP Pay & Go settings
Please note all steps must be completed to ensure the settings are correctly configured.
Please ensure that when entering 'O2' into the settings that the letter 'O' is selected not a zero.

The W580i has a central navigation button (Navi key) and two soft keys slightly above this.

1. Press 'Menu' (right softkey).
2. Highlight 'Settings' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
3. Scroll to the 'Connectivity' tab by pressing the Navi key to the right.
4. Scroll to 'Data communication' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
5. Highlight 'Data accounts' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
6. Highlight 'New account' and press 'Add' (left softkey).
7. On the 'Account type' screen, highlight 'PS data' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
8. On the 'Account Name' screen, enter 'O2 WAP GPRS', press 'Continue' (left softkey).
9. On the 'New PS data' screen, highlight 'APN' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'payandgo.o2.co.uk' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
10. Highlight 'Username' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'payandgo' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
11. Highlight 'Password' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'password' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
12. Press 'Save' (right softkey).
13. Press the 'back' arrow key (key directly below left softkey) 2 times.

Activate GPRS settings:
14. Highlight 'Internet settings' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
15. Highlight 'Internet profiles' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
16. Highlight 'New profile' and press 'Add' (left softkey).
17. Highlight 'Name:' press 'Add' (left softkey), enter 'O2 WAP GPRS' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
18. Highlight 'Connect using' press 'Select' (left softkey), highlight 'O2 WAP GPRS' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
19. Press 'Save' (right softkey).

Change GPRS settings:
20. Highlight 'O2 WAP GPRS' and press 'More' (right softkey).
21. Highlight 'Settings' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
22. Ignore 'Connect using'
23. Highlight 'Use proxy:' press 'Select' (left softkey), highlight 'Yes' and 'Select' (left softkey).
24. Highlight 'Proxy address:' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter '193.113.200.195' (to bring up the number press the number until it appears. Add the dots with the '1' key) and 'OK' (left softkey).
25. Highlight 'Port number:' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter '8080' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
26. Highlight 'Username' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'payandgo' and press OK (left softkey).
27. Highlight 'Password' press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'password' and press OK (left softkey).
28. Press 'Save' (right softkey).

Change Homepage:
29. Highlight 'O2 WAP GPRS' and press 'More' (right softkey).
30. Highlight 'Advanced' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
31. Highlight 'Change homepage' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
32. Highlight 'Name:' and press 'Edit' (left softkey). Hold the 'c' button (to the right of the Navikey) to clear any text in the field. Enter 'O2 ACTIVE' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
33. Highlight 'Address:' and press 'Edit' (left softkey). Hold the 'c' button (to the right of the Navikey) to clear any text in the field. Enter 'http://wap.o2.co.uk' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
34. Press 'Save' (right softkey).
35. Press the backward arrow key (key directly below left hand soft key).
36. Highlight 'O2 WAP GPRS' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
37. Press the 'back' button (to left of Navi key) 3 times to return to the standby screen.

34. Press 'Save' (right softkey).

36. Highlight 'giffgaff WAP GPRS' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
37. Press the 'back' button (to left of Navi key) 3 times to return to the standby screen.


The GPRS WAP settings are now complete.
Sony Ericsson W580i MMS

You'll need to complete all steps for this to work.

The W580i has a central navigation button (Navi key) and two soft keys slightly above this.

Please also ensure the GPRS WAP settings have been entered prior to entering the MMS settings.

1. Press 'Menu' (right softkey).
2. Highlight 'Messaging' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
3. Scroll to 'Settings' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
4. Highlight 'Picture message' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
5. Highlight 'Validity period' and press 'Edit' (left softkey), highlight 'Network maximum' and 'Select' (left softkey).
6. Highlight 'Read report' and press 'Edit' (left softkey), highlight 'Off' and 'Select' (left softkey).

13. Highlight 'MMS profile' and press 'Edit' (left softkey).
14. Highlight 'New profile' and press 'Add' (left softkey).
15. Highlight 'MMS profile name:' and press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter 'giffgaff MMS', select 'OK' (left softkey).
16. Highlight 'Message server' and press 'Edit' (left softkey), enter http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002' and press 'OK' (left softkey).
17. Highlight 'Internet profile' and press 'Edit' (left softkey), highlight 'giffgaff WAP GPRS' and press 'Select' (left softkey).
18. Select 'Save' (right softkey).
19. Highlight 'giffgaff MMS' and select (left softkey).
20. Press 'back arrow' (key to left of navi key) 5 times, to return to standby screen.


The MMS settings are now complete.

Answering system settings
Record your own announcement
Using the telephone base:
Press •/REC while the telephone base is not in use.
Press /CID or /DIR to select Announcement, then press the SELECT softkey.
Press /CID or /DIR to select Mailbox 1 or Mailbox 2, then press the SELECT softkey. The corresponding icon, 1 or 2, flashes on the screen.
The telephone base announces, "Record after the tone. Press 5 when you are done." After the tone, speak towards MIC (microphone) of the telephone base. Press 5 or the STOP softkey when finished recording.
The answering system automatically plays back the newly recorded announcement. Press 5 to stop the playback at any time.

Press (down arrow)CID or (up arrow)DIR to select Mailbox 1 or Mailbox 2, then press the SELECT softkey. The corresponding icon, 1 or 2, flashes on the screen.

Press CID or DIR to select Announcement, then press the SELECT softkey.
The telephone base announces, "To play, press 2. To record, press 7." Press 7 to record and the screen shows Recording announcement ..., or press CANCEL to exit to the previous menu.

Your phone is somehow set to pulse dialling and you need to change it to tone. Instructions are given below.

Of course if you can't select menu options this will not work so please explain why the menu options are not available - what happens when you select the menu softkey?

Dial mode
The dial mode is preset to tone. If you do not have touch tone service, you need to change the setting to pulse.
To change the setting:
Press the MENU softkey when the handset is not in use.
Press or to select SETTINGS, then press the SELECT softkey.
Press or to select Dial mode, then press the SELECT softkey.
Press or to choose Tone or Pulse. Press the SET softkey to save, or press the BACK softkey to exit to the previous menu.

1. Press the 'i' button (press navi key).
2. Highlight 'Browser' and press 'Select' (left softkey).

4. Press 'Options' (left softkey) , highlight 'Add new connection' and 'Select' (left softkey).
5. Highlight 'Profile Name' and enter 'giffgaff GPRS WAP'
6. Highlight 'Homepage URL' and enter 'http://giffgaff.com/mobile'.
7. Check that 'Proxy' is ticked (press Navi key to tick/untick).
8. Highlight 'IP Address' and enter '193.113.200.195'.
9. Highlight 'Port' and enter '8080'
10. Ignore 'Linger time' (this is preset at 90).
11. Check that 'DNS' is unticked (press Navi key to tick/untick).
12. Highlight 'Bearer' and select 'GPRS' by pressing the Navi key right or left.
13. Highlight 'Advanced settings' and select using center Navi key.
14. Highlight 'APN' and enter 'giffgaff.com'.
15. Highlight 'Login ID' and enter 'giffgaff'.
16. Highlight 'Password' and enter 'password'.
17. Press 'Save' twice (left softkey).
18. Highlight 'giffgaff GPRS WAP' and press 'Options' (left softkey)
19. Highlight 'Activate' and 'Select' (left softkey).
20. Press 'Back' (right softkey) 3 times to return to the main screen.

The GPRS WAP settings are now complete.
