I have a Kyocera KM-1820 copier that has about 37000 copies run through it. The copier first started having a problem with a dark marbleized 4" wide streak running down the right side of the copy (front side only) it progressively got worse leading to the entire front side of the page having a dark toner shadow. At the same time the bottom 3" of the back side of the copy has dark toner marks and there appears to be roller marks there as well. I have cleaned all the glass, registration roller, vacuumed out the inside, made certain the charger cleaner is in the locked position, I have put a new toner cartridge in (OEM). I am thinkin this may be a processing unit (drum) problem but I question that because research I have done tells me a drum should last up to 100000 copies. Is there anything more to clean? Any other parts I should be looking at? Any help would be appreciated
Don't always believe what they say. just because its "supposed to " last a certain amount of time, doesn't mean it will. Once you get the insides dirty, its hard to get them straight again. Sometimes there is build up on the printer head from a leaky cartridge. I'm just guessing cause I had a similar brand that was brand new act up on me and because I was printing bold it started rolling the paper. I put it on economy printing to save toner and after a few runs, it cleared up. plus using a watermark helped but don't think that will help you in your situation.
Sometimes when I get a streak on one side its from light coming in from somewhere and it thinks its part of the image and prints it. If you make sure that your material is flat and not allowing light to come in or its firmly against the glass it might help.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion, but this does not seem to address the issue. This Kyocera copier is only being used as a copier for one page at a time. The cover is always closed during the copy process and is not getting any light penetration. I am interested in finding out if there is any other place to clean out other than the chamber that the process unit slides into where the registration roller is? Would the black roller near the registration roller have anything to do with this? Thank you"
SOURCE: Kyocera KM1820 spots on copy about one-half down horizonally. Do
Based on your discription it is the process unit. The toner cartridge wont cuase spots on this machine.
Waste toner reservoir overflow problem (when the total number of copies is 100 thousand sheets or more)
• After E31 is displayed, 1,000 sheets are copied. Or waste toner exceeds 5 g.
Defective waste toner sensor or engine board (KP-5061).
Shake the process unit from side to side and turn the power switch off and then on. If the problem cannot be solved, replace the process unit. After replacing the process unit, turn the power switch off and then on. If the problem
cannot be solved, replace the waste toner sensor or the engine board (KP-5061).
I hope this is helpful,
Shawn
